LG 24 in. LD-12BS6 Stainless Steel Free-standing Dishwasher Logo

My LG 1204W1 door will not close. The latch in the inside of the door at the top seems to be 'locked' making the door bump on the metal part that sticks out from the top of the door frame on the body of the dishwasher. Hope this makes sense.

Hi there Bushx, sound to me like the door latch is in the closed position. you should be able to feed something into the catch and pull it back out to the open position. Please let me know if this helps regards Gary

My malber wd2000 door won't open

Malbers use a thermal (heat acting) latch to hold the door closed, so it stays latched for about 2 mins after being turned off. This is to give you time to think before you open the door and possibly spill water all over your feet. When the little bi-metallic piece cools off, it bends to one side (inside the latch assy) releasing the catch, and the door can be opened. Sometimes, the bi-metallic part bends OK, but the latch catches and won\'t release. It just needs a little vibration to free it up. A smack to the latch area (on door or face of Washer) will free the latch.

I tell my customers: Don\'t pull too hard on the white door handle. If you can\'t open it with your little finger (seriously) it\'s not ready to open!

Door on 95 geo metro 4 door won't close because the child proof lock in on and I can't get it to go off. Door won't stay shut. Any ideas how to fix this?

Your childproof lock have nothing to do with the latch not closing. It only makes it where you can not open the door from the inside. I would think you are in need of a new latch.

This is a longshot, but is there a possibility you engaged the child safety lock while working inside the door panel? It may seem slight, but there is the chance you bumped the lockout mechanism. This would also prevent the door from opening using the metal push-rod you desribed. Good luck. Have a good day!

My GE dishwasher's door is stuck shut ~ I'm assuming a broken latch. I was told to fix the latch, the dishwasher has to be taken out from under the counter top (in order to get the door open). My...

Well I'll try to help you get this opened. I don't know how much space you have at the top side edge of the dishwasher. You need a long stiff rod like a metal clothes hanger straightened so it can reach from the side to a little past the dishwasher middle. You need to push it in between the door top and the dishwasher body up at the latch area. What holds the door closed is a flat metal piece with a plastic hook on the end facing down towards the floor. You need to try and get the rod under the metal piece and lift it slightly, hopefully to unhook the the door. If you can't do that, the only alternative is to pull hard on the door handle and you should be able to break the plastic part of the latch which will then have to be replaced. The part that should break is the top hook which would be an easy replacement, but I can't be sure thats all the damage to the latch that will happen. It may do some damage to the part inside the door also. This is last resort. I'll try to attach a parts breakdown of the tub so you can see the latch hook. Look at item #50

Door won't close

You have probably bumped the latch and caused it to close. Look at the latch in the door. The latch has a locking arm that is down when in the locked position and up at the top when in the open position. If the arm is down in the center of the latch opening of the door push the arm upward until it locks in place.(sometimes you have to activate the latch handle/button on the outside of the door while pushing the arm upward)

Dishwasher won't run. Normal light and cancel light flashing cont

Hi,

The door latch pulls the door tightly closed to prevent water leakage around the door. It is also designed to prevent operation while the door is open. The door latch works in concert with the door switch to ensure that the door is tightly closed and latched. The door switch is a separate part from the door latch and is found inside the cabinet. The switch is off when the door is open. Depressing the switch closes the circuit and enables dishwasher operation. Closing the door does not depress the switch all the way. Only when the door is closed and latched, does the door fully depress the switch.

If the door latch is not properly aligned it may not pull the door tightly closed and the door switch will not be fully depressed. Unless the switch is fully depressed the dishwasher will not operate. It is a simple matter to determine whether the door latch is the problem. Simply open the door, close the latch and select a cycle and depress the switch. Note that if the test is successful, with the door open, the dishwasher will operate and water may spray out. Make sure to first remove all tools from inside the dishwasher. Do not reach inside the dishwasher during the test. Now, inspect the cabinet where the door makes contact with it and locate the door switch. It may have a protruding button or spike or more likely it is a hole with a piece of metal or plastic inside it. You must fully depress that switch. If the switch is recessed, then use a non-conductive object, such as a wooden pencil, to depress the switch.

Thank you !!

Dishwasher runs even tho the door is open

The door interlock switch is jammed in the closed position.

There is a metal tab on the inside top of the DW frame that engages a lock just behind the handle on the inside of the unit. The lock tells the machine the door is closed and it is OK to run. If that jams the unit thinks the door is closed.

Open the door.

Look for the latch inside the door behind the handle.

Try to release it with a screwdriver.

If you need to you can remove the handle and repair from inside. It is usually a simple jam that requires you to gently pry the latch open.

REMEMBER TO TURN THE POWER OFF FIRST.

Hope this helps. Please rate this if it helps you.

Thanks,

Adrian
