I have a Bunn Ultra 2 machine it was working fine last week I left it running and when I went and looked at it yesterday it had shut off and would not start up. I unplugged it from the outlet and it...

was it hot? the compressor may be overheated and went into shutdown until it cools. it's safety feature if the fan stops or if the airflow is blocked by too much dust. clean the filter, check the fan, and try again. if it's not hot, it's the transformer that powers the main circuit board.

No display

Try to power cycle the printer Ii.e., power off and on).Verify whether machine has power (check fan, LED). Verify if fan is running. If fan is not running, replace LVPS (Low voltage power supply. Part # 40X5409. For further assistance please contact Lexmark Technical Support.

We have a Sony VAIO, VGC-LV290J. When plugged into an outlet, the machine's fan just revs. The "VAIO" splash screen does not appear and the screen remains blank. The Bluetooth keyboard does...

It seems that the 'POST' (Power On Self Test) is not starting, and thus is not displaying the "splash" screen. The fans will run at 100% until the POST completes.
But, if the POST does not complete, the fans will "roar".

Check for a defective CPU, or defective RAM, or a defective motherboard.

It probably is *NOT* the CMOS battery -- if that battery is dead, then the "default" settings should allow the computer to start (with the wrong date/time).

I just bought a Danby Dehumidifier model: DDR6009REE The fan runs constantly even when the humidity setting is reached and the compressor is off. has anyone patched the power for the fan by putting...

All new generation dehumidifiers are designed to have the fans run all the time and the compressor comes on when the relitive humidity rises above the setting that you have chosen. I spoke with the company and asked them why this is so, and they told me that it is more energy efficient to have the machine on all the time so that when the compressor kicks in there is a small draw on electricity.
Apparently when the old dehumidifiers came on it was the compressor that turned on immediately, and the fan, and this caused a very high current draw. The new design has the fan on all the time and this helps to circulate the air evenly around the area being dehumidified - thus more efficient overall coverage.
I understood their explanation, but still do not like this new method of operation.

Computer does not fire up. I do have steady green light on power supply. All motherboard connections appear to be tight.I have come home before to a beeping noise in the past. After resetting the machine...

That beeping noise may be due to over heating.
Most machines today have a temperature setting that will turn the machine off once the temperature reaches a certain point.
Safety feature to avoid damaging your cpu and components.
The shut down and restarting allows the CPU to cool down briefly.
Thus allowing you to start the machine again. Usually it will shut down again once the temperature threshold is again reached.
Good test is let the machine sit for 30 min. If it immediately starts up and shuts down a few minutes later. Heat build is usually the problem.

Typically this is due to heat sink or Fan on the computer CPU.
Check to be sure both are connected to the CPU and functioning.
If you have a fan on top of the heat sink above the CPU. Make sure it is working correctly. Dust build up over time will eventually kill the fan bearings or reduce airflow. Heat sink can and will become clogged with dust also. Replacement fans are easy to find. Heat sinks are even easier to clean.
Depending on your machine and CPU position replacing the fan can be a challenge. But can be done in a few minutes with minimum tools.

Each bios has different post codes and it is difficult to tell what is happening with out knowing the bios of your particular machine. Listen for the beeps and check your computer manual.
You can also google for this. Here is a web site that lists a few bios P.O.S.T codes.
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
Once you know the beep sequence you can look it up. Usually points to the problem and you can go from there.

Good luck!

Emachine Will not boot

different beeping patterns are codes which indicate what part of the hardware has failed (ram, video card, cpu, ect). the fan failure would not cause beeps, and would not cause the cpu to fail unless already in windows. if you could find out the manufacturer of your motherboard you could check with them about what the paticular pattern of beeps which you are getting mean.

Laptop shuts off after powered on omnibook 6000 It runs for a few seconds and shuts down .... it that a bad power supply or what?

You might have a broken or dirty CPU fan. The CPU heat sink fan is responsible to cool down your CPU while it is on. If it is broken or stuck(dirty), then your machine will power off automatically preventing CPU damage or worse-case-scenario:FIRE caused by "burnout".

Your CPU heat sink might not be mounted on your LT properly. Also causing overheating; thus shutting down.

Its a laptop right ? Right! Another thing you could try is to unplug the battery, and let it run from AC power only and see if it makes any difference.

Compaq MP2800 Lamp powers down after a few seconds

Hi Wayne

It is normal for the lamp's fan to start running , but should actually happen within 15 seconds of starting up. Try changing the lamp's fan and if the problem still persists then you will have to replace the Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )
