SOURCE: Why does pocket mirror trawl through all items when synchronising a calendar

Copied from the chepura site: These abbreviations indicate a certain type of synchronization. 1. "Forced Recovery Sync" or "–RS" indicates a Recovery Synchronization. This will occur in the following instances: * It is the very first synchronization. * There was an error during the previous synchronization. * The "Category/Folder" setting has been changed. * The Root Folder has been changed. * A record count mismatch occur has occurred. * The "Handheld Priority" has been changed. * The User Name has been deleted from Chapura Settings. 2. The "–SS" indicates a Slow Synchronization or Slow Sync. Note: A Slow Sync is necessary and does not indicate a problem with synchronization. A Slow Sync will occur in the following instances: * If you synchronize your handheld at one PC and then synchronize it at another PC, the first time you sync at the second PC it will do a Slow Sync. * The first sync after changing the HotSync action from "Do Nothing" to "Synchronize" the files. * The option to synchronize every so many days has been selected. * The first sync after a synchronization that failed. 3. The "Update Sync" will occur when the following changes have been made in "Chapura Settings": * The Location Delimiter has been changed. * The Meetings prefix, "Mtg:" has been added to meetings that have attendees in Outlook. * Private Items are filtered. * The settings for the Transfer of Alarms has been changed. 4. The "–HP" indicates that your synchronization option was set to "Handheld Overwrites PC". 5. The "-PH" indicates that your synchronization option was set to "PC Overwrites Handheld". 6. The "HH" you see during a synchronization indicates the software is reading items from the handheld. 7. The "OL" you see during a synchronization indicates the software is reading items from Outlook. These are only informational messages and do not indicate there was a problem during the synchronization.

SOURCE: Palm M515 hot sync problem

Hi you could either have a problem with the lead witch is the cheapest problem to solve the other problem is with the palm top itself if this is the case then you will need to send it off to get the firmware updated you cant do this yourself because you cant get the correct software to do this you might even need to put the device in recovery mode to install the latest firmware so it will need sending off to do this if you contact customer support number for your device then they should tell you the best way of doing this ok

SOURCE: Palm M515 hot sync problem

I have a similar problem with my m515. I have 3 palms and 2 sync fine but the 3rd isn't even getting to the computer. There is no recognition from the computer that the palm is trying to sync even though I use the same cradle for all palms. The ensuing message is, "the connection between your handeld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again". My settings are set Local and Cradle/Cable.

SOURCE: appropriate software for tungsten e2 palmOne

If you said you have the software (desktop), your doing it backwards. Run the desktop software by going to my pc and running the disc. The software will then ask you to plug in your E2 so it can register it. It will then synch and your in business. Had E2 for a very long time. Can tell you things that guy can do that would surprize you. Have everything but unit now.

SOURCE: When my PC locked up

maybe a factory reset may help, please first read these posts below, first, then make a decision as to what to do.

In order to hard, factory, reset your palm, you must press the reset button on the back (with the top of the stylus, or an opened paper clip) while holding down the power button.

You then let go of the reset, while still holding the power button. When you let go of the power button, you will see the Palm splash screen.

Once you see that screen, let go of the power button. You will be prompted to press "up" on the D-navigation button to delete all data. Do so, and your Palm will be totally reset. Now it should be as from the factory... However ALL ANY personal data may be deleted, so it is advisable to have a backup before one does this. This will/should however restore everything, then hopefully you can then put back the calender files data.

Also you may also be able to mount the unit under windows, and go to where you changed those files and change them back to what they should be, this too may help. There is software on the 'net, that can assist with the mounting of these devices, to do this.

Handspring visor pro on Vista

The easiest way to do this is by usb. You will need to download the 6.2 palm desktop/hotsync manager (yes, it says it will not work with your prism... I know.) Then you'll need to download pimlico's palmhotsyncsetup tool, that will allow it to work.
You can read the full instructions and get the appropriate links here:

Drivers for Multimedia Player

Ignore the disc that comes with the player.
If using windows media player I simply ripped the tracks off the cd into mp3 to get them into the windows media library then synched the tracks to the player.
When you connect the USB cord between the computer and the player, windows media player will recognise it and show it in the left side bar.
Click on the mp3 player icon and then synch the tracks into the plyer list to import to the player (right side bar) I simply synch them all then remove the ones I dont want or drag and drop the mp3s from my media library into the player list to be synched.
Ignore totally the disc that comes with the player it is not required I think its only for 98 users to make it work it is not required with XP or Vista simply upload tracks to the player using a media player such as windows or real player.
So rip mp3s from the cd you want ....
When in mp3 mode (ignore if already mp3 on your pc) click the player icon when connected to the pc with the USB cable then select synch.

The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28).

Migrating software and data to new computer

Assume that your Visor is your data respository. So you should make sure that you have an up-to-date synchronization from the NT PC. Now get the XP compatible software for your Visor from the palmOne website and install it on the XP box. I assume that you will be synching via USB this time - this is the default setup when you install the software. Hopefully you still have the USB cradle that came with the Visor. You can still use serial sync with XP but you should try to take advantage of the speed of USB on the new PC. Download for XP & Visors: http://www.palmone.com/us/support/downloads/visor/win_desktop_401.html Once the software is installed, sync with the new computer and all your data should be copied from the Visor to your PC in the first synchronization. By the way, Outlook shouild be installed on the new computer before you install the Visor software; otherwise the installer will not offfer to install the PocketMirror conduits.
