Camcoder Sanyo, HD1, It was happen since 2 weeks ago, during producing a video / about 30 seconds shooting, the monitor showing darker about 50% on vertical position. I thought, it was only monitor problem. In fact, during the play back mode (in the camera) it shown to be captured in the result and so after downloading in the Notebook computer, it seems the results was partly darker in the left side compare to the other right part. Pls. advice what is really happen to my Camcoder Sanyo HD1 ? Is it serious problem and where about in Jakarta that I could get this fixed ? Thank you very much and appreciated you attention and assistance. Regards, Rudy Antono.

SOURCE: Display doesn't work

Hi,

I suspect the sensor of your unit has malfuntioned and needs to be repaired or replaced. Sorry for the bad news.

SOURCE: Sanyo XACTI HD1 Camera-No Pictures / Videos captured.

I have intermittent problems of this type too. Occasionally I get a blank screen in the display mode.

Does the red light on the back of your camera flash while the screen is dark? Mine does.

It is beginning to bug me a lot. It may be because I got my camera wet in the past (and hence I have broken my camera), but I doubt that would result in a partial failure.

I think that the Xacti HD1/HD2 has issues a bit like a blue screen of death on an old Windows computer when faced with storage problems.

I.e. it works but crashes sometimes when it cannot store to its storage medium.

These things work for me
1) Turning the power on and off via the button underneath the screen.
2) Removing and re-inserting the SD card.
3) Turning the power on and off by removing the battery.
4) Using a different (and faster?) SD card.
I am still using my HD2, but I am finding that I must attempt solutions 1-3 about once a day.

It could be because the card I have been using recently is not fast enough. The HD2 accepts both SD and SDHC cards. My SDHC card (which is newer) seems to result in fewer problems, either because the SDHC format is more suited to the Xacti HD2 or becaues the SDHC card I have is faster that then SD card I have. I suspect problems with the speed of the card. I am using cheap SD cards.

SOURCE: Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1- doesn't do anything in record mode

As I have been writing on other HD1/2 problems, sometimes it can be the card which is an issue. If the card is too slow or perhaps corrupted then the device can find it difficult to record.

This and other soft faults (that are reperable by turning the power on and off, changing or reinserting the card, removing the battery) are often indicated by a flashing red recording light.

SOURCE: My computer doesn't recognize my camera

I discovered that what iMovie says I should do doesn't work. In HELP it says to set the camera to OC CAMERA. At least that's the closest I could come with my Sanyo camera to what it says in iMovie's HELP. Anyhow it doesn't work but if I set the camera to CARD READER instead it worked the way I wanted it to. I'm all set now.

My monitor turns itself off

If it's only a few months old then send it back under warranty.
The fault you have is the inverter circuit.

Hope that helps. =)

Severe gradient issues / problems with darker grays

So your sure when you go into the monitor settings, and color, it is set to like 9300k or something? It probably isn't the monitor, because the video games you said display just fine.

Monitor colors "pulse"

What video card do you have?? Some older video cards don't display very well at higher resolutions... You may want to get the latest video card drivers which may help the problem.

You can find out what card by opening display settings and going to the screen that shows the 1280x1024 resolution.
