Frigidaire Dryer GLER642AS3 loud squeaking. Squeaking sound probably coming from drum rotation bearing. Is there an easy way to get in to oil that location to stop squeaking noise? Thanks!

Ok. There weren't any screws on the inside after opening the door. I didn't try popping up the top up yet.

Yes but you will have to take the front of the dryer apart and pull out the drum/tub. to do this you must open the dryer door and look up for two screws, remove them. next close the door and using a flat head screw driver, pop the dryer lid/top up (be careful not to bend apart the two green snaps that are holding it tight on each side). now using a phillip head screwdriver in each inside corner you need to unscrew the screw. now lift up and out slowly to remove the front of the dryer ( unplug the dryer door wires before removing front completely). now you must pull the tub straight out (you might need to reach in and take the belt loose first). Now you are where you need to be.

different type of frigidaire, on your model you just skip that first step and go directly to popping the top. pop it in the position where the snaps are holding it on each side.

Dryer Squeak, Tight Drum, Burning Smell

The loud, constant squeak/squeal from your Frigidaire dryer, combined with a burning smell, indicates a serious problem that needs to be addressed. While replacing the drum bearing kit was a good step, it appears that there may be other issues at play.
One possible cause of the squeaking could be a worn or damaged drive belt or idler pulley. If the idler pulley spring came off, it is possible that the belt is not properly tensioned and may be slipping or rubbing against the drum, causing the squeaking noise. Additionally, a slipping belt can generate a burning smell as it heats up from the friction.
Another possible cause of the burning smell could be a malfunctioning heating element, which may be overheating the dryer and causing the burning odor.
It is recommended that you stop using the dryer immediately and unplug it from the power source. It is not safe to continue using a dryer that is producing a burning smell.

Hi,

Sounds like your motor and/or pulley assembly are bad. Try turning the drum by hand. If it turns with some effort then you may have a drum bearing going bad. Does the squeaking sound start right away? Or does it start when the dryer warms up? If so then the bearing is going. If you can get to it spray WD40 for a quick fix.

Squeaky 4-yr old Frigidaire gas dryer

it's most likely the rear bearing that the drum rides on in the rear of dryer, you'll need the model number located around the door opening to order the right part.

Squeaking when dryer runs

Yes. Replace the rear bearing cup that the drum sits down into. Do not oil. This cup takes a special grease that you can get with the cup. Also don't let anyone try to sell you the whole bearing kit. All you need is the cup and the grease.

My GE Profile Dryer is still operating but produces loud intermitent noise as the drum rotates. What can I do to eliminate the noise?

It sounds like you may have a bad bearing in the back of the drum. That model rotates on a sort of ball and socket type mechanism. You may be able to lubricate it if the noise is just squealing/squeaking. If it is more than that, you'll probably need to replace the bearing mechanism. If you lube it, use a heavy weight lube that is rated for high heat (I've used brake caliper grease.)
