The 2 vents on the drivers side have warm air blowing out. ... But a system that is 1/2 pound low will cause the passenger side vents to blow cool or cold air, and the drivers side to be less cool or even warm on this car. could be a gas leak ( low gas pressure shut off switch, failed start run capacitor for the compressor , vermin problem shorting out the power board outside

Sounds like a faulty Tstat that's sending a low voltage signal to the contactor coil only sometimes. The high pressure cut out or the compressor's internal thermal protection could of opened, and then closed again after cooling. Make sure the condenser is clean and not obstructed.
You need to turn off the button that say AC on it. You need to change the temperature and the fan adjustment. If you have the AC button turned on, the fans will blow cool air even though the heat is turned on.
The fan that blows the air blows through the heater coils before it blows through the A/C.As long as the heater doesn't come on, there is not much that can be done. ZCooking the attic room will be a problem because it is the heat rises thing, and on top(literally) of it all, the roof is radiating heat.
