Its possible. This one has two, located underneath. Lean the machine back to check them. Make sure all pulleys turn freely before replacing them
Possible motor overheating or transmision
Thank you. Tipping the machine back did reveal the belts. The belts looked good and turned freely. Not sure what is causing the blue smelly smoke that filled the house. The washer is at least 20 years old. Rather then trying to repair and having something else break down later due to age or other cause, decided to invest money in a new machine and not multiple repair costs.
