The only Analog camcorder that has a USB Connection for transferring pictures or video is the SC-L770. The SC-L770 can transfer video (live or recorded) and still photos through the USB connection. You can also transfer audio using the audio cable provided. After installing the driver and software, you can begin transferring data using the software provided. Connecting to a PC 1. Connect a USB cable to the USB port on the PC. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable into the proper terminal on the camcorder. (USB jack) 3. Connect the audio cable to the Line input jack of the PC. If the PC has no Line input jack, connect the audio cable to the MIC input jack. In this case, however, a noise may be produced depending on the PC. Notes: * If you disconnect the USB cable from the PC or the camcorder while transferring, the data transmission will stop and the data may be damaged. * If you connect the USB cable to a PC via a USB HUB or simultaneously connect the USB cable along with other USB devices, the camcorder may not work properly. * In this case, remove the other USB devices from the PC and reconnect the camcorder. Some other Analog Camcorders have a snapshot mode which allows you to take a still photo with your camcorder. However, you cannot transfer these to a computer unless you purchase additional hardware such as a capture card. Some capture cards have analog a/v inputs which will allow you to use the a/v outputs on the camcorder to connect to your pc and transfer images and video. You can purchase a capture card at most computer and electronics stores. Samsung does not support capture cards.

When listening to playback just on camcorder i can get sound but when i plug into computer or tv there is no sound. How do i get the sound to play?

Aw, this is very rare. Both digital and analog connection no sound? First, make sure with analog connecting cable working, must be the original JVC A/V cable and 2nd, when connecting to PC, use the software provided (CyberLink) for playing and editing videos. Good Luck

Camcorder hookup to computer.

Dear Tudi
I just wanna share lil-information about Sony camcorders that if its model number starts with CCD-XXXX, it means its analog camera and it doesn't have capability to connect to Computer by USB cord. If its model starts with DCR-XXXX, it means its digital camcorder and can be connected with Computer. In 1997, all camcorders were analog and there was no digital camera in market.

Can I connect my VHS-C Palmcorder® Camcorder to my computer?

No. Since VHS-C Palmcorder Camcorders feature only analog outputs, it is not possible to connect the camcorder directly to a PC unless your computer video card is equipped with analog inputs. The only way to transfer images from the camcorder to a PC is by using an external device capable of analog/digital signal conversion.

Can I connect my VHS-C or S-VHS-C camera to my computer?

Since VHSC camcorders feature only analog outputs: it is not possible to connect the camcorder directly to a PC (unless a computer video card is equipped with analog inputs). The only way to transfer images from the camcorder to a PC will be using an external device capable of analog/digital signal conversion. JVC has released a capture device model, GV-CB3U which has the capability of video capture of a single frame in either Bitmap or JPEG format. The GV-CB3 can be connected to any video source through a standard video or S-Video connector and download single image to a PC using serial port (RS232C communication port). The JLIP Video Capture software necessary to transfer images to the computer as well as connecting cables are supplied with this product. You can also use 3rd party hardware (Video Capturing device) to send information from your camera to a PC. Visit your local PC or Office store for more information on other video capturing devices.
