My 2 day old BlackBerry Pearl 9100 won't charge. It charged perfectly fine just after I got it, then when I bought it home and synced it with my computer, it got really hot, and hasn't charged since. When I plug it in, the charge light comes on for a few seconds then goes off. It then comes up with a battery symbol with a red cross on it. At first I thought this meant that it had no battery left and needed to charge, so I left it on charge over night. When I woke up the next morning, the battery symbol with the cross was still there. Help!
It means your battery is bad or its the wrong battery so if you've had the same battery the whole time you need a new one. If you just replaced it then its the wrong battery.

Try a different charger (like your car charger instead of your home charger) - make sure while it's plugged in - the display shows that the charger is charging it, blinking - or bars going up or down, or a thunderbolt on the display screen next to the battery power symbol etc
Once you know your charger is working, its probably easiest to find someone else with a BB and ask them if you can trade them batteries for a day to see if it's a bad battery. ( You can usually buy a battery for $5 on ebay, or up to $20 in a cell phone store)
All in all, trade someone for their battery, or their charger - if you dont wanna buy one at first. See if the problem follows your old battery etc..
And if neither solve your problem then its the BB itself. I have called in to the cell company before and let them know we have a BB that will not hold a charge no matter what battery or charger I use... and they usually replace it under warranty as long as its less than 12 months old, and the white squares in the battery compartment are still white.
It looks battery completly drained and dead (as It took so much time), the best way first to check "Circuit" status in Battery through Voltmeter (poles)..or another way go to any cell phone shop and give a trial with another batterty to check status of your unit.
Take it where you bought it and try to get it replaced, saying it's defective. Hopefully you're under warranty, unlike myself who has a **** blackberry who's radio keeps turning off randomly and won't make or recieve calls without having to manually reconnect 'mobile network' hundreds of times a day. Your phone must have got really wet though because buttons and **** don't ******* unless exposed to extremly wet conditions (trust me, I know). I'd like an iphone over this **** for damn sure but i'm stuck with any annoying and fairly useless phone for now.
