Your assessment seems to be correct. The problem is most likely in the iPod.

The stereo headphone connector (called a "jack") may have a broken connection, most likely on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) inside the iPod. You may try carefully wiggling the plug in the jack and see if the sound comes on and off. Do it with the volume low so you don't damage the amplifier in the iPod.

I have opened them up before. It can be done, but is not particularly easy, and must be done carefully.

If you are technically inclined, or know someone who is, open the iPod and examine the jack connections to the PCB. If there is a break, it can be repaired by soldering a wire across the trace on the board.

If you're not able to do this and don't know anyone who can, it will probably have to be professionally repaired if the warranty has expired.

Good luck!

Are the noise levels at rock concerts damaging to your ears? I really like going to gigs but my mum is convinced that I am going to go deaf!

Your mum isn't totally wrong, although you aren't likely to go instantly deaf. Seriously loud music can damage your ears and affect your hearing in the future. You should always wear ear plugs when you're at nightclubs and rock concerts.

I dont know how to load up any songs,or videos on my ipod a1136

If you want to install songs on your i pod, Get an i Tune media player it enables your system (laptop or computer) to be able to transfer any data from your system to your i pod.

First install your i Tune media player.

connect your cable to your i pod before connecting to your system.

Open your i Tunes player, and synchronize(like pairing your device with your system) it with your i pod so that you can be able to transfer any data from your system to your i pod.

I think that will do..

Sound only works on one side

Make sure that the earphones are pushed in all the way. If they are not, you can often only hear through one ear.
