You can order a remote directly from RCA but they are really expensive. The largest database of online remote codes I know of is Logitech Harmony. I would buy a Harmony Universal Remote.

If you can't get the direct tv to work with your television universally you may need to purchase a remote that will control this television.

There are also many universal remotes that will work. Just make sure to research and make sure you select a model that has codes for combination TV/VCR units. Many manuals and code lists are available online from their manufacturer. There are some remotes that do not handle combination units.

You can use an universal remote, but you will probably need to program the universal remote using the slow and complicate auto program feature, since the codes for many home theaters are not available.

Some more suggestions to see if your remote control has just lost it's programming is try unplugging your television and taking the batteries out of the remote control for atleast 5 minutes. If this doesn't work, or you've tried tvtek's advice up top and you still can't get your remote control to work, I would try ordering a original replacement remote control for your specific television. I would not recommend purchasing a universal remote, because half the time the problem with it not working could just be caused by it using the incorrect code. If you go to a site like http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com and look through their site for the exact model number of your television and purchase that remote control than you'll have a good idea if it's the remote or the television. Most likely you'll find it was the remote control!
