I'm about to hook up my KLH to an Onkyo Receiver with Audyssey sound features. 2 questions: it asks me to set my sub to 75 DB. Since my volume dial goes 0-10, which number maps to 75 DB? Also, what crossover frequency is generally used? my sub goes from 50-150. Thanks

I think it wants you to raise the volume high enough on the sub so IT can hear at least 75dB. It can always adjust the sub downward if necessary. Max it out at the sub and let Audyssey deal with the adjustment.

Your crossover frequency selection would be a piont below which you want the sub to activate. It depends on the bass capabilities of your other speakers. You want some overlap so there's no droop in the crossover region where your main speakers roll off.

I have an Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver that I'm very pleased with. I just upgraded my speakers to a set of Klipsche quintets with 400watt, 12" subwoofer. I don't want the text book answer o

You will need to go through the speaker setup menu and select the configuration and crossover frequency for the speakers. If you set to full range, your sub will not be engaged. Subs are only good at low frequencies, so use the lowest frequency for the crossover. (40-80Hz) If you have the audyssey microphone plug it and follow the directions to re-balance the equalization for the room and seating positions. If you don't use Audyssey, you'll need to tune all of the config setting manually. Some may be re-used if the distance is the same, but the loudness (+/- DB settings) and cross overs are probably going to be different for the new Klipsch speakers.

Trying to hook up a KLH sub woofer, S100ETH, PSW8-100 to a VCR reciever. Reciever has sub woofer connection but does not works on the KLH sub woofer. What is the problem ?

I suggest you go over your receiver set-up instructions. See if you need to set the receiver to acknolwedge the addition of the subwoofer. It should be in your receiver set-up steps. Just as a check, hook up one of your other speakers to the subwoofer lead to see if gets audio signal. I'm guessing the issue is your receiver settings.

Denon instructions

I don't have this particular model but I have owned 2 Denon receivers and I suspect yours is similar. On my Denon there is a manual speaker set up with a test tone for each channel. This will allow you to boost or reduce the DB level of each speaker individually. I would do this while sitting where you do while watching TV. be sure:

1. The receiver is in surround sound mode to do this.
2. My receiver also came with a microphone that can be plugged into the receiver to allow automatic level set up through what Denon calls the "Audyssey" set up. The equalizer setting are also located in the "Audyssey" settings.

You might check your manual before you begin.

Can I hookup a Sony receiver STR-DE505 to a Bassbite 2 KLH Audio system and how??

Yes.

It's frustrating that KLH manuals seem impossible to find anywhere online BUT a simple picture will suffice...

Go here and supersize the picture of the rear of the sub...

http://cgi.ebay.com/KLH-Audio-Systems-Bassbite-V-Model-E214708-Speaker-/110673631693

Run your front channel speaker wires to the CLEARLY-MARKED connectors on the sub and daisy-chain your front speakers to the CLEARLY-MARKED connectors on the sub.

Adjust the sub volume to match the front speakers levels. This will give you local volume control at the Sony.

ONKYO TX-SR608 I need to have my volumne up over 40 to get any sound and around 55 to listen to my home theatre on 5.1 . Does this sound normal? Also, how can I view the volumne when using Zone 2? I...

Yes it is normal, the 608 is a THX certified receiver, so it goes by THX reference levels.

In theory once you have run the Audyssey auto-setup with the included mic the proper reference level for watching movies will be 82 if the volume number scale is set absolute or 0dB of it is set to THX relative. At this setting the volume should be the same as watching that movie at the theater. I have mine set to power-on at a level of -30dB which corresponds to level 52 on the scale you have it set to. This is a comfortable lowish level, but I turn it up to at least -10dB AKA 72 when watching movies.

How to hook up my subwoofer

It sounds like you're doing everything right. Did you define the sub to the Onkyo (Subwoofer = Yes, page 22)?

Let's prove the sub works. Set its volume about half-way, cutoff= 170Hz. Temporarily connect an RCA cable from its Line Input to one of the Tape Out connectors on the Onkyo and play some FM through it. If it's alive you'll hear the low end of the music.

Don't buy into the hype that there are different pedigrees of RCA (or speaker) cables that will make an audible difference. Save your money.

Audyssey vs Direct switching on Onkyo SR606

Audyssey is the licensed feature this receiver uses for room and dynamic equalization. It sounds like the Audyssey process is activated. The manual says the Audyssey indicator "flashes during automatic speaker setup".

Has this unit ever worked or are you still setting it up?

Volume

It's the receiver, same prob here. The level of bass through the sub is negligible too. So my guess is it's either related to the crossover or the passthrough in general.
Looking for a missetting or workaround.

Onkyo 805 sub hook up problem

Talked to tech support at Onkyo and there seems to be two (2) places you can hook your sub up to. I placed mine in the wrong slot. So please double check where you placed the sub connection.
