Help - Capturing Video from a DVD-R Disc

I have recorded video on a DVD-R disc with the Panasonic VDR-M70 MiniDV camcorder. I've tried to capture for editing on my PC through a couple different applications (Pinnacle Studio 8, MS Movie Maker, etc.) with no luck. How do I capture DVD-R video on a PC for editing and movie making?

I took the plunge based on manufacturers marketing claims and sales level tech support - Mistake! Panasonic VDR M50. The DVD-R disks are fairly straightforward. They can be played in my DVD video player and my PC, and I can use Fleximage DVD-to-AVI for conversion to a file format I can use for editing. The camera creates sequencial files for some reason and this software will only convert the first file. Very frustrating! I ended up playing the DVD-R on my DVD video player and using the video cable, transferred the video back to a DVD RAM disk on the camera. See DVD RAM problems below. The software that came with the camera has so far proven worthless. I have struggled with the DVD RAM disks. They are fabulous to use in shooting and editing on the camera but I cannot for the life of me get the DVD format converted off the DVD RAM. They cannot be read by my DVD video player or my DVD drive on my PC. I can see and even transfer the files to the PC through USB but for some reason, the DVD-to-AVI software will not recognize the files that were recorded and I cannot use the file format from the DVD ROM for anything other than viewing the video. Again, the software that came with the camera has so far proven worthless.

Panasonic VDR-D250 - I want to transfer the video taken on the 4" disc to usable DVD probably via pc - help please

Pinnacle Studio will work with your camcorder. You can either plug the camcorder into the computer and capture the video to your hard drive or you can import the DVD into the hard drive.

Looks like Imagemixer isn't available anymore according to a Google search.

Panasonic dvr d 200 hand camera - the recorded disc doesn't play on regular dvd player

First I must say I have different camera, but in my case I must close the disc session from camera menu, so theat after it dvd could be played in dvd players and after it you can't record on that disk anymore. If you alredy know that, then sorry. I have a problem that some non-scratched in any way disks with data just don't respond at all, but that's another story. All the best.
