Funny Noises and Freezer No Longer...

Seems to be keeping things cold. Last temp I took inside was 42 degrees... *sigh* I have it turned all the way up to 7 but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. The fridge part seems to be working okay, I haven't noticed a dip in temp there. I vacuumed out the back vent and cleaned the grill on the front near the floor like the suggestions already posted advised to do. Doesn't seem to have made a difference. And the noise is like something ramping up... goes on for about 4 seconds and then goes away. Sounds about every 2-10 mins. Help?? Am I at a point where it's gonna cost me a lot of money to fix?

SOURCE: Kenmore trio 569. Fridge No getting cold Temp is now 81 degrees Freezer ice cold

Mark, check to see if the fan is running in the freezer section. Common problem on these 596's trios. If the fan is running, you might have a defrost problem. If it isn't, your part number for the motor is 67002778. No fan, no cool upstairs...Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: frost forms in freezer, blocking vents so temp in both freezer and fridge is warmer than normal

You have an issue with the defrost system, either the timer, thermostat or heating element. Probably the defrost timer refer to the manual to find it. If you don't have the manual check the makers web site for a parts breakdown. You should be able to put it into defrost manually by turning the knob and see if that helps. You may need to do this sevral times as it only stays in defrost for a little over twnety minutes and run cycle for 6,8 or ten hours. If the ice build up is heavy then twenty minutes may not do the trick thus the need for repated defrost cycles. If it does the trick replace the timer. If not check the thermostat and heater element.

Bought a brand new LG bottom freezer fridge a couple of months ago. I like the refridgerator part to be cold, so we keep the fridge temp on 6 (1-7 are temp choices. 7 being the coldest). We had the freezer...

If designed as most combination units, one of the two controls influences the temperature directly, the other only determines how much of the generated cold air is allowed to enter the other compartment. The typical arrangement is that setting the freezer temperature determines how often often the compressor runs; the other diverts a portion of the cold air into the refrigerator side.
Using the common thermometer for cold temperatures (~$5 US), adjust the freezer temperature for 0 to -5 degrees F (the often recommended temp.), then the other control for the desired refrigerator temperature, suggested as 35-45 F. This is the most common practice.
If you cannot balance them the way you want, reverse the procedure, setting for refrigerator temp., then freezer.

I have a Kenmore bottom fridge model #596.69274991. Although things are cold and frozen, the room temp is only 70 degree but it seem to run for well over an hour although there has not been much opening...

Tom, you pretty much have it all covered. Make sure both the freezer fan and the fan under the fridge are both running and keep your eye on the inside back wall of the freezer compartment fro any signs of frost build up (possible defrost problem).
Good luck!

Freezer Freezes Refrigerator Barely gets cold

Hello there:
Here is a few things to check to make sure the referigerator is working properly.
The first thing to check is the overall internal refrigerator temperature (see the Appliance Accessories section for a refrigerator/freezer thermometer). The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try: If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly. If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf. If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan. The refrigerator never cycles off The thermostat cycles the refrigerator on and off. The refrigerator normally runs as long as the temperature inside the refrigerator is higher than the set temperature. If the temperature inside the refrigerator is cold enough and the thermostat still does not cycle off, the thermostat may be defective. If so, you need to replace it, because it cannot be repaired. If the thermostat is not defective, you may have a problem with the sealed (refrigerant) system,

Hi eapiano,

I'm Harvey th Master Plumber.

Your question is: Your GErefrigerator does not seem to be cooling as before. You turned up the temperature control from 5 to 7 and also the freezer control higher, but it still doesn't seem to be cold enough. You don't want to lose all your food especially in the freezer What can you do? The model number is: TFX22PRX

First, make sure the power is on. Then listen for the compressor motor. If you don't hear it then you have a compressor failure or an electrical failure inside. If you can then look to a bad thermostat. In the mean time get everything into coolers or neighbor"s fridg.

Burnt smell inside freezer.

Generally speaking it is the refrigerator control that controls the compressor operation. Refrigerator is cooled by air from the freezer. When the refrigerator gets down to its designed temperature it shuts off the compressor. The freezer control determines how much air is allowed to flow into the refrigerator section and there-by controls the freezer temperature.
