My Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400 GB used to work perfectly, but one day, it stopped working. I can turn it on and get it to run. I can hear it and feel it spinning and everything; but it won't show up anywhere on my Mac (2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 - 10.6.7 Snow Leopard)

Any drive will work - but you have to make sure that its physical configuration matches your pc and that you reformat the drive since the format used for dvr use is not compatible .
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaultsor load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive hope this helps
