The antenna wire has been wired wrongly to receive full time current whenever the vehicle is turned on. It is supposed to be wired to the remote turn-on wire from the radio, so it goes off whenever the radio is turned off.It will have to be rewired to work correctly.

2018 79 series Landcruiser. How to connect existing elect.aerial to retract when radio is turned off, currently only retracts when ignition off.Earlier models work when radio off. . Mick

You will need to find a different power source for the aerial motor. You need a lead that comes from the radio instead of the ignition. Most radios have a blue lead that is a remote wire used to turn an amp on and off or the antenna motor.

HOW DO I GET THE ACTUAL AERIAL ANNTENNA TO RAISE ON MY 2002 RENAULT MEGANE CABRIOLET CONVERTIBALE.

if it is electrical then it rises when the radio is turned on or if the radio is left on all the time ,when the ignition switch is turned on
it needs a separate earth point to operate and because it is a separate power wire ,there will be a fuse in a circuit that controls the circuit
because they are at the base of the antenna , they can fill with water and become inoperative through corrosion and such
have a radio technician or auto electrician check it out
if it is manual it may be pushed too far down and the tip is locked in
release the lock with a hair pin ,paper clip or similar object then pull the aerial up

Electric aerial on 1998 Toyota Celica

The grinding noise means that the gear in the motor slides over the retracting shaft, you will probably need to get a new one.

When I put my key in the ignition it will not turn?? how do i change the ignition

not sure about this one but their isnt a hole to release the barrel ,also dont think the parts are sold seperatly, you will have to renew the whole steering lock assembly complete and cut the old one off with a mini grinder ,dont forget to remove the coil mechanism around the lock ,its the aerial for the chipped key and dont forget to take the chip out of the key and put it in the new key .or just tape the key behind the plastic covers aroiund the aerial so car will start .

Ive bought a peugeot306 recently and the person who had the car before has took there car stereo out and cut the wire, so now im having trouble putting my stereo in. thanks

  • First thing to do is isolate all the cables from each other and put insulating tape over the bare cables.
  • Now using a multimeter set on 12 volts or above test each cable in turn with the ignition on.
  • You will find one live cable that is only live when you have your ignition in the number one position.
  • This is the live feed to your radio, fit a small amp-age fuse (5 or 7.5 amp) depending on the rating for your new radio.
  • You will have speaker wires, these you can identify by tracing them from each speaker.
  • By now you will have identified your live cable and your speaker cables.
  • You may have a secondary live for a electric aerial and an earth cable. You must earth your radio even if you have to make an earth on the inner bodywork.
  • If you do not need the secondary live then make if safe.
  • If you need the secondary live fit an appropriate fuse.
  • Earth the new radio.
I use this system on used cars before fitting radios/cd players. It works but be careful.

Fitting new antena aerial to Saab 93

Len-
The replacement only costs about $20. The dealer can also provide a replacement but it can cost upwards of $50+. Part number is 5035944.

The hardest part is removing the metal sleeve from the mast pole. Once you get this out, refit the new mast with the teeth so the motor will pull the new mast down when you turn the radio off. refit the 17mm nut on top of the mast and then turn the radio back on. It will click a few times and then be properly set.

Tacoma radio antenna

Use an antenna wrench to remove the chrome nut (I found a wrench on JC Whitney's website). Once the nut's removed, do the following (copied from the factory service manual):

REMOVE ANTENNA ROD

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ”LOCK” position.
(b) Press the ”AM, FM” buttons on the radio receiver, and simultaneously
turn the ignition switch to ”ACC” position.
HINT:
The rod will extend fully and be released form the motor
antenna.
After removing the antenna rod, leave the ignition switch
on ”ACC” position.
NOTICE:
To prevent body damage when the antenna rod is released,
hold the rod while it comes out.
2. Auto Antenna Models:
INSTALL ANTENNA ROD
(a) Insert the cable of the rod until it reaches the bottom.
HINT:
When inserting the cable, the teeth on the cable must face
toward the rear of the vehicle.
Insert the antenna approx. 300 mm (11.8 in.).
(b) Wind the cable to retract the rod by turning the ignition
switch to ”LOCK” position.
HINT:
If the ignition switch is already in ”LOCK” position, do step
1 (c) first, then turn the ignition switch to ”ACC” position.
In case the cable is not wound, twist it, as shown in the
illustration.
Even if the rod has not retracted fully, install the antenna
nut and inspect the antenna rod operation. It will finally retract
fully.
(c) Inspect the antenna rod operation by pressing the radio
wave band select buttons.

You can buy a new power mast online (ex. Discount Toyota Parts) for about $30.
