I have a Poulan 625 push mower. What type of oil should I use in it? I can't find my manual.

i have never seen a oil filter on a push mower

I use Briggs & Stratton SAE 30 and it takes about a pint or a hair more.

I'm guessing you have a basic Briggs and Stratton engine, which is the standard on these machines (or a Tecumseh). The standard oil used in almost every mower on the planet is straight 30 weight oil (not multi-viscosity, such as 10W30). Just 30 weight. There should be a label on the side of the engine and on that label, it will actually be listed, but I'm going with 30 weight. For longer engine life, use synthetic oil. It will need less changing. Here is a photo off one of my Tecumseh's. You'll see it clearly states SAE 30 right there on the sticker. Hope this helps.

The oil drain plug is under the mower, look for the pipe plug in the engine housing, be sure to remove the spark plug wire before working near the blades as a safety item...

Briggs and stratton sae 30 engine oil or any other reputable brand sae 30 engine oil is fine. Regards Phil

Poulon 550 yellow 22" Briggs and Stratton. It looks like you have to drain it out the cap by tipping it. There IS no plug on mine - spent 40 minutes looking for one, and I know what both types of the plug look like. What a lousy design. This mower is a piece of junk. The valve froze a week after I got it. Never again. A headache.
