Toshiba REGZA 32XV515DG 32 in. LCD HDTV Logo
Posted on Jul 12, 2011

Is it ok to turn a Toshiba LCD TV off at the power point to save a little electricity? We have a circuit breaker adapter board which runs 5 red LED's at night (TV, DVD player, sterio, surround sound etc) but my housemate thinks that doing this will damage his TV. It is a REGZA but I am not sure of the exact model type. approx 5 years old

Yes its fine to turn the power off at the power point. In fact this saves money because there is no idle appliance power drain. It is also a safe practice to disconnect the power at night or over longer periods of inactivity because there have been instances where plasmas in particular have caught on fire. Turning the power off will not affect your friends LCD TV they are designed and built by engineers who incorporate power surge protection. The circuit breaker should be one of very good quality and if this is the case then your friends LCD will be fine.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

The menu keeps flashing on and off. I have turn the tv off 4 or 5 times but it still keeps flashing the light on the bottom of tv goes blue then red really fast

How old is your TV? This normally indicates a power problem. It could be any of the following: power supply on the TV, faulty power strip, faulty wall outlet, faulty circuit board inside the TV, faulty power cord/plug, bad airflow/clogged vents restricting air movement into the TV (can cause intermittent power faults),bad sensor inside TV. This is not completely inclusive by any means. It does mean that you should have it looked at. Someone knowledgeable/skilled should be able to determine the cause fairly quickly using a multimeter.

Lcd tv no turn on an de red stanby lite is off

The lack of the red light indicates that either the TV's power-cord is not connected, or that the wall-outlet is not supplying any power (check your circuit-breaker box), or the power-adapter inside the TV has malfunctioned.

Tv keeps clicking red light blinking but doesnt come on first it was fifteen minutes then thirty now an hour and it i still not on?

the red light blinks due to a problem in the power supply or deflection circuit, this usually happens when one or two components start changing specified value or just entirely go out. Some samsung tvs do have replaceable boards but you still need to pinpoint the problem to a certain circuit board, either deflection or power board. It may be worth it to call a service tech and describe the problem to get a good idea on the repair cost.

I have an emerson tv and it will not power on at all. The little light wont even come on.

Solution 1 was just step 1. If the outlet gets power and the fuse or circuit breaker is ok, then U have a bad tv. That seems to be the most common problems with lcd's when they go bad. They either give the blinking light and not coming on, or they go completely dead. Most common causes are a bad power supply or a bad board/PCB/Circuit board.

Some el.components are loose on tv circuit board.I have removed the back cover, supported tv picture tube 45 deg.against wall. This tv is heavy! One screw on left holds the circuit board to bottom case.Removed and supported this board on few heavy books.Turned tv on and gently probed all the componets on top of the board with plastic drinking straw. In my case transistors Q-830 and Q-421 needed resolder loose joints. These components are mounted on flat aluminium heat sink strips located sligtly left of center of the circuit board. Also blobed bit of silicone into base hole and foot of alu.heat sink to support it.
