I have a Viking 6370 sewing machine. I can not get the stitch selector to turn to select a new stitch. Actually the knob will turn but the outer dial doesnot turn and the stitch does not change. It sews a great straight stitch but the zigzag is graduated from wide to straight and then back to wide. I have the manual and it looks like it should do a regular zig zag. Any hints would be appreciated.

This only solved half my problem. The zig zag is working correctly but the stitch selector will not rotate

Hello

look at the cam gear. This is the unit that the cam connects to. It could have a crack or be split completely. If there is a crack the cam stack will have to be replaced. The parts are hard to get and a good technician is needed.

Testimonial: "That was the problem exactly. I am going to order a new cam gear and replace it. Thanks"

Model 6370. Why does it sew only in reverse when I select a pattern stitch?

Hi Sally,
I have worked on a few of the older Vikings and the pattern selector seems to get gummed up (something about the lubricant they used to keep the parts from rusting). Be careful with the plastic parts, they become very brittle with age and there is no easy way to get the machine apart because Viking hides the screws. There is a YouTube video of a tech working on the reversing problem, may not be the same model as yours but they are similar.

How do I repair the stitch changer on my Husqvarna viking

if the stitch selector is stiff, don't force it, some small parts that are no longer available could be damaged. take the machine to an authorized Viking repair center for evaluation.

Husqvarna 6430 stitch selector knob won't turn

This repair will need to be done by a Viking dealer since it will require the covers to be removed. You can find a dealer near you by using the link 'Locate a Dealer' at the Husqvarna Viking Website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

I just bought a used Husqvarna 2000 sl without a manual.

If you have on old Husqvarna 2000 from the 1970's, then the knobs are as follows:

Top front left: Pattern Selector
Top right: Stitch width
Lower: Stitch length and buttonhole (when turned to 0 and pulled out)
Extreme left: Upper tension
Side left: Presser foot pressure

Reverse sewing button stuck HELP!!

MOdel 6430 has the stitch length and buttonhole selector on the same knob. It is the one on the bottom right side of the machine. I believe you may have selected the buttonhole by pulling out on the large round knob. You need to turn the knob back to 0 zero and push in. This should return the machine to normal mode.Adjust your stitch length to 3 and try it. The reverse knob in the center should also stick out so that it becomes operational again.
