It's a digital camera designed to take pictures. You get low resolution for videos taken from that camera.
The camera's LCD screen is small, so the videos look great.
Small screen = Low video resolution - perfect match.
Further explanation to resolution :
Digital cameras like yours will take videos and save them for example at a maximum of 320x200 (the normal TV resolution).
Now you have a nice LCD monitor for your computer which is capable of displaying high resolution capacity of 1280x1024.
If you play the video at full screen (which means that the 320x200 video will be stretched to fill the whole 1280x1024 screen), the result will be very UGLY.
Note: there is nothing wrong with your equipments.

How about different videos do they have the same resolution? If yes the problem here is not with the video from the camera it can be the resolution of your computer , because if the video card of your computer is not high and the resolution is also not that high video will not look sharp when play to the computer compare when play directly from the camera...
