Of course.

It's a digital camera designed to take pictures. You get low resolution for videos taken from that camera.

The camera's LCD screen is small, so the videos look great.

Small screen = Low video resolution - perfect match.

    Further explanation to resolution :

Digital cameras like yours will take videos and save them for example at a maximum of 320x200 (the normal TV resolution).

Now you have a nice LCD monitor for your computer which is capable of displaying high resolution capacity of 1280x1024.

If you play the video at full screen (which means that the 320x200 video will be stretched to fill the whole 1280x1024 screen), the result will be very UGLY.

Note: there is nothing wrong with your equipments.

You may need to crop the images or adjust the player to the size that shows them the best

How about different videos do they have the same resolution? If yes the problem here is not with the video from the camera it can be the resolution of your computer , because if the video card of your computer is not high and the resolution is also not that high video will not look sharp when play to the computer compare when play directly from the camera...

Hope that helps.........

Sanyo HD1000 exacti

Hello there.

At a first guess, i would say you have the video quality settings on the camera too high. These new cameras and video recorders can store very high definition images and at the highest setting a laptop will have trouble playing the footage back without skipping or artifacting.

I would recommend checking the camera settings and lowering the resolution to something more manageable.

If you are unsure of this please write back.

Hope this helps.

To transfer video you need to use firewire, not usb. If you use firewire to connect, set the camera to the 'play' icon and then open up a capture program (ie, movie maker) you should be able to just record/capture from there. Good luck!

I wish to transfer my DCR-TRV480 NTSC video to my PC. I have set my camera to Play/Edit mode. However, when I insert my USB cable into my video camera, the message "Disconnect the USB cable before changing the setting" appears, preventing me from playing/transfering my video. What can I do?

Canon 400D

I'm fairly sure this camera takes a CF card from what I have read... I would use an external CF card reader and move my information back and forth this way -- just like files to a disk drive. I would however make sure I used the same filename and picture size resolution when moving files back to the camera. It may/may not work depending on how the camera treats the files.

Playing a video on your PC should be as simple as copying the files from the camera to your HD and playing them. You may have to download a particular CODEC for your media player -- but that is all there is to it!

Hi, You can only transfer still images (photos) with a USB cable. For video, you need a firewire card and cable. That's the way it works.
