Our Amana bottom freezer refrigerator is too cold in the refrigerator portion. It keeps freezing all the fruits and vegetables even though the temperature is set on the warmest setting in both the refrigerator and freezer. The vents are clear and the coils are clean. Is there a thermostat that can go and needs to be replaced? The compressor does cycle so it doesn't run continuously.

The thermostat is getting tired and will not control the temperature properly. You will need to get a new themostat fitted

Our Amana afi2538aes is doing the same thing. Had a repairman out. He called tech support at Amana. They had him adjust the "thermistors" but it is colder than ever running at 28-30degrees in the fresh food compartment despite being set at 46 degrees. Tech support also recommended installing some sort of "ice bin seal kit to take care of the problem" according to our invoice from repairman. Repairman was told that the ice bin in the fresh food compartment puts cold air out (to keep the ice frozen) which freezes the food in the fresh food compartment. I called Amana and the rep I spoke to said he couldn't find record of this being a problem with the model but tech support told our repairman "we've had a lot of problems with this happening."

THIS REF. WORKS BEST WITH THE REF. SET ON 4 OR 5 AND THE FREEZER AT 2 1/2 OR 3. HAVING A HIGH FREEZER TEMPATURE CAN HAVE FREEZING IN THE BOTTOM DRAWER OF TH REF. MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE RETURN AIR VENT TO THE FREZER IS BEHIND THAT DRAWER.

PUT THE REF. ON 5 AND SET THE
FREEZER ON 2 1/2 AND SEE IF THIS WORKS

I solved my problem by going someplace that wasn't going to charge me!

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

I think the thermostat is faulty. Thus it makes the freezer extra cold. Try replacing it. Regards, Nandini.

turn your freezer up all the way and your refrigerator down a little. this will block some of the airflow going to the refrigerator.

to the left of the bottom drawer is a veg/meat slide switch.make sure it is all the way on veg.if it is on meat,it opens a small doorway to the freezer and lets the cold air in and will freeze the food in the bottom drawer.in some cases,you will need to remove the drawer and shelf and then take apart the doorway.ball up some putty and jam it it the hole to completely seal it off
