For house rain gutters, I recommend fitting Hedgehog gutter brush,
Comes in 4 metre lengths, just drops into place. It's lightweight so it's really manageable. You do need to use a few long tywraps to keep it snugly in place as it can be blown out of the gutter by high winds.
My place is surrounded by pine trees but I've yet to have any issues with needles. All I need to do is whip it out of the gutter, give it a shake to remove any debris it's caught then drop it straight back in. Gutter cleaning was always one of my least favourite chores, messy, taking ages to do etc but over the last 3 years since I fitted it, it's hardly a chore at all.
I think at the time, it cost me around £ 8 per 4 metre length, but it was money well spent as far as I'm concerned. Good product, effective and very durable.
Easy Flow Gutter Guards are the only gutter guard in the world that can be attached to an existing 5k or 6k gutter system (This is the continuous aluminum gutter system most used in America today) without compromising the integrity of the roof. Easy Flow Gutter Guards attach under the flashing on the fascia boards, protecting the fascia from all contact with rain or other forms of moisture.
For those of us with Pine Needle issues, a very cheap and effective solution is to use regular screening like used on a screen door. Probably the thinner the mesh the better. You can buy it in 4ft rolls at HD and cut lengths of it several inches wide so it will cover the gutter and tuck underneath the shingles a few inches. Tuck it underneath the shingles and let it extend over the gutter at the same angle as the roof slope and duct tape the other side onto the gutterrs. You can buy the color duct tape you need to match your gutters. This will allow the needles and stuff tol roll off. A 4 x 7' foot roll costs only about $10 and if cut into 6" wide lengths (you may need them wider or thinner depending upon your gutter types) ir will cover 14 x 4' or 56' of gutter.. If you need more you can get even longer rolls at a cheaper rate per foot.
A box 75 feet of 3 foot length plastic/screen gutter guards cost me $44 so this screening method should cost you about half that. If you have any doubts, just try a small section with a small amout of old screening first to see how it works. Write me back on Facebook and let me know how it goes.
