Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool, then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling, then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not cooling.-------

Fridge not cooling or freezing

Hi Mags.
Clogged coils can cause poor cooling. Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won't have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. ... Plug in the fridge and make sure the fan runs when the compressor is running.

My kenmore 253 upright freezer/fridge is not cooling the fridge part correctly. It's cool but not cool enough to keep the food fresh. The freezer works well sometimes. And sometimes it seems that it's not...

Try this test. Set a window fan behind the fridge to constantly blow air across the lower coils at the floor. If the fridge works well after a while of this, then the lower fan on the fridge needs replaced. Sometimes though, after a while, the fan will finally start working again because the cycle has finally corrected itself with the test. Leave the window fan run on low for a few days before removing it. The hum you hear is the compressor moving the coolant and is supposed to do the hum sound. That's good. Now once the fridge is working, and you still have a good freezer section and not cool enough below in the fridge for you, there is a knob that sets the cool lower by opening flaps under the freezer to let more cold down to the fridge area. Set this knob to colder and the flaps will open more.

Whirpool wgi fridge freezer, fridge not cooling?

Most frideges get all their cooling from the freezer. There will be a fan and duct in the back of the freezer that pushes cold air down into the fridge. If the duct is blocked with ice or the fan motor has quit. Your freezer will work fine but the fridge will barely cool at all. Check that the fan runs when the compressor is running, ( turn both temp knobs to the highest cooling and leave door open until comp. comes on). If the fan runs your duct is plugged. If not you need a new " Freezer Fan Motor". Most are simple to replace and cost around $100.00.

Fridge cools short time and stops

sounds like the condensor fan isnt running. I would replace the fan if thats the case. If the fan is running then you have a overload problem or a bad compressor

Motor runs, freezer defrosting and fridge won't cool

If you have frozen coil at the back of the freezer section, then the defrost thermostat is usually failing. Allow the fridge to defrost completely overnight. If the fridge restarts cooling immediately after defrost, then the problem was the defrost system. In that case the fridge will stop cooling again in a couple of days, as soon as the evaporator coils restart freezing and the condenser goes under stress with the whole cooling system loosing efficiency.

Fridge running but not cooling

Sounds like you're low on gas...assuming that the condenser coils are clean.

Brand new refrigerator not cooling

ok what he was trying to say is that the freezer does all the cooling for both sides as nothing in the fride side cools and in order for the fridge to reach its proper temp the freezer should run any where between -0 to-10 then the fan in the freezer draw-es air from the fridge and cools it and circulates to the fridge now i need to know a few things is the compressor running is the freezer fan running do you see any frost on the back wall of the freezer section is the fan running in the back that's near the compressor to cool the condenser coils then i can better advise pleas hold my rating till we are done where did you purchase the unit
