Uniden hr2510 10 meter lights up, won't transmit or receive

Check to make you are not on PA.Make sure the radio is on. there are diodes controling the lighting for the display.

could be your final , could be the modulation transformer, could be your coax, could be your mic. Hows the SWR . under a 2.0 I hope.the smaller the # the better you get out .

Without seeing it I would guess (and it's only a guess) that maybe you have a broken microphone wire. If it's a factory mic the most common place for it to break is right up from the mic plug. Factory cords are not flexible, their really stiff. We could really use some more information. Mike

do you have the volume turned up? Squelch turned all the way left and RF gain all the way right. If you still don't hear anything check to see if this model has a dynamic squelch .If it does turn it off.

Most problems with radios that receive but do not transmit are antenna or antenna wire/connector issues. It's easy to receive with a marginal antenna but transmitting requires a good working antenna. If you have a SWR meter or can get your hands on one, install it in line with the antenna and test for reflected power. Of course, make sure your TX light comes on when you depress the mic switch. If not, switch mic and try again.

Just to clarify something, you say that your hand-held VHF can receive a clear transmission from the Uniden, now which of the radios are buzzing, the Uniden or the HH?. If it's the hand-held buzzing try transmitting on the low watt on the Uniden, get some distance from the radio, because if the hand-held are to close to the on the Uniden on high watt you will get a buzzing, the signal are overpowering the receiver of the hand-held, try getting the minimum of 30 feet away. What kind of antenna is it? Have you checked your standing wave? To do this process you will need a field strenth or a SWR meter to do it,would be cheaper to have it checked at Radio Shack or you can buy one,and do it yourself. Some radio antenna light come on when transmitting,....hope this helps....

Have the SWR's ever been checked on this radio when it was installed? where they over 2 or higher?

Most likely the final transmit transistor is bad from too high of an SWR.
