Are you sure you bought lithium cells? In your camera you should use Ni-MH batteries. The SNB-2512 could be very expensive, but normal Ni-MH from any brand should work fine.

Depending of what you use, always be sure all batteries are the same, charged and suited for your camera. Most of the time even new Ni-CD rechargeable batteries won't work, because the voltage is low, according to NiMH or alkaline batteries.
Always charge NiMH batteries before using them for the first time, or if they have not been used for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Always charge sets of batteries (2 or 4) together.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In some cases, alkaline batteries may have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.
Never use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in your camera.

Carry spare alkaline batteries - just in case...
Does the same symptom happen with alkaline batteries?
Lithium Ion batteries are 1.2volts
Alkaline are are 1.5volts
Rechargeable Alkaline batteries are 1.5volts

Perhaps you should switch to Rechargeable Alkaline batteries if the symptom goes away when you use alkaline batts...

Alkaline batteries are available *everywhere* for relatively short money. When they die, you probably won't have to go very far for replacements. A lithium battery usually lasts significantly longer than traditional alkaline batteries.

When a lithium ion type dies - you'll have to find a place to plug a charger in to recharge before using again. Since it's not always easy to find a place to do this - and due to the time it takes to recharge - it's wise to have at least two sets of lithium batteries. One can charge while the other is in use in the camera.

Lastly, at anywhere from $20 to $80 a pop, lithium batteries can be cost prohibitive.

Lithium is actually one of the most widely used as it contains a higher charge. As for alkaline batteries they dont hold a high charge and may cause problems with your digital camera.
