I saw where you gave a response about someones Sony DSC H1 starting up and then shutting right back down. My camera is doing the same thing. It will start up normal in view mode. But as soon as I flip to taking a picture mode. The lens comes out and shuts the camera down. If you would be willing to fix this for me. Send me an estimate and your address to the following email. Thanks Tim Martin [email protected]
Dear Martin,

Hi there you need to open the camera casing then you can remove the flash light. But if you want to do this at home you need to know chip level circuit board repairing. ask me if any thing else.
When you switch the camera from mode to mode, does it make the click noise to signify that the camera recognized that it changed modes?
If not it could be that the switch itself has become unlogged from the switch. I know I had a older camera had this happen before. Try pushing down hard on the toggle wheel and seeing if it will snap back into place.
Otherwise the switch inside the camera itself is probably broken, and if this is the case cheapest thing you can do is have Sony do warranty work on the camera.

Click repair and service under Technical Support. This will get the process started on the warranty work.
there is some problem with lens block may his adjustment out it can be fix by open you camera and then lens block.after that re adjust lens block hope fully it will work if you do not know how to do then go to near service center.
apparently, i was told by a sony sales guy, to use sony batteries WITH the sony charger. Don't use another kind of battery in the sony charger or use an engergizer charger with duracell batteries...we'll see if that fixes the problem as for I have the exact same problem! I'll let you know what happens! (though I'm very suspicious that the guy didn't know what he was talking about! worth a shot though since I've tried a lot of batteries and chargers to try and fix the problem with my H1!)
Problem seems in Loading Motor of Lens Mechanism. Its quite complicated Lens Mechanism. If you dont know about Camera Lens repair, please contact nearest Sony Service Center for proper repair.
All rechargeable batteries got exhausted after 100s of charges or after a certain period. It need replacement. if my suggestion proves useful please rate my solution.
Check the Sony Support site for this- it may be a free firmware adjustment to down load. It is not likely an out of warrant camera could be a viable repair option
Someone told me to try this: take the batteries out, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, let the camera sit for a few minutes without batteries, then place new "good" batteries in it.Good luck
