Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty:
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty" ?

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem follow the troubleshooting procedure a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every device and to have an end to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd drives need to have current go through make sure these devices are working

also check your computer ram and cmos battery to make sure they are securely seated and the battery has plenty of charge

hope this helps

Toshiba DWC120 2TB Harddrive not recognised

Before connecting anything to an USB port you need to install the software for the device. Then you can connect it.
But when you have an old laptop it could be it can't handle the 2 TB.
First install the software that came with the drive. Then see if the laptop can handle the 2TB.

My Toshiba px1394u-3g50 external hard drive is not working, light flashing and not recognised

Try connecting the hard drive to some other laptop and see if its getting recognized. Issue could be either with the hard drive itself of it could be with the usb port which you are using to connect the hard drive to your laptop.

Toshiba Satellite laptop no longer sees DVD drive

Goto start -> run ..... type regedit
hit ok.

goto the following registry setting

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Look to the right and delete the following
"UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"

Close regedit and restart PC. If that doesnt work then the dvdrom is bad.
