Bad news my friend. That model isn't supported anymore. Sirius is pretty good about replacing the radio for free and discounting the accessories. You will get one for free. The docks are reasonably priced. The boombox you might be able to get a discount for. The new docks are more designed for multiple units should this happen in the future to you again (like Stratus radios).
There isn't much to service on the radios. If the board is dead it isn't worth fixing. It's cheaper for Sirius to replace it.
They all run hot. Everyone I have had has done that. As long as you keep it out of the sunlight when your driving it should be ok because they do have vents for them just make sure there not blocked. They are designed differently on the newer models than the ones from two or three years ago. Less parts, better venting.
Thats a possibility too. Did you get one of the e-mails on the transmitter yet?
In my car I was using the direct fm adaptor.
It looks like this
What you do is you take the antenna cable off of the radio in your car and plug it into the direct fm box. There is an FM cable on the direct fm box that plugs into your radio. There is a mini jack that plugs into the dock of the Starmate. It's probably labeled FM or direct FM on it. Then find a place in your dashboard to safely mount the direct FM box with adhesive included with it.
The direct FM box acts as a splitter and a modulator as well. You can tune your radio onto whatever station you want to without any interference. If you wish to listen to regular FM radio (if that ever happened, lol) you simply turn the Starmate off and the FM radio will function as usual.
A few years ago I was wiring my Ford Tarus at the time with all the features. I should he video taped it and put it on You Tube for an installation video.

Usually answered in minutes!
That's what I was afraid of. Best Buy will give me a radio and discount the home docking system. I did anticipate this problem and have a backup Starmate 1 that Sirius was happy to activate for me.
I'm wondering: I think that heat is the problem. The radio always runs quite warm. Could a small computer fan be hooked up to keep the radio cool? And more importantly, would that help??
Thanks again, BubbaBear!

I wonder if less fm transmitting power keeps the newer ones cooler?
Yes, I got the email. I am not sure what I want to do, though.
Thanks! That sounds easy enough even for me.....and I won't have to change the frequency on SIrius for each city I drive through!
same here, mine went a month ago...looks like 3 years is the expiration date...but alas, they are sending me sportster 4 free and 2 months of service so no worries.just need a home kit discount
Mine powers on and stay on the logo screen. not sure what to do or where to go with this problem?
logo only comes on
My starmate 1 has the same problem very weak visual display, will not stay on. Manual says may be a fuse. Would like to repair, if possible? EB
Starmate ST1 will not go out of logo screen. was working for about 20 minutes and then just stopped working.
