No, first push the self clean button (hold until lights come on). Then pull the grounds unit and empty it, that will turn off one red light. Fill the water tank. Then drop the tablet. Then hit the ground coffee button. Cycle through and dump the grounds each time the grounds light illuminates.

You may have to clean the unit using cleaning tablets, also there is a flap in the bay (remove the tray and use flashlight, sometimes it cakes up and moisture collects. Final thought is you may need to send it in to Capresso/Jura for service. Mike

I do not have an instruction booklet, and need to clean my machine with a tablet - what do i do?

You can obtain the PDF booklet online from www.capresso.com

If you don't have access to the internet, just follow LED indicators. When you get a message to clean machine, you will see one of the indicators lights on. press the button and follow directions. You will be prompted to insert a tablet and press another button

Clean machine still on even after cleaning with cleaning tablet

Patti - I had the same problem yesterday with my E8. If you still have an issue, and have cleaned the tamper area like tech support will tell you to do, try this...Turn off the machine and remove the tray. Use your fingers to probe around the metal thing in the middle. You will find several areas where grounds accumulate. I found two areas in particular - one on each side of the center - where I had the motherload of old grounds. Remove all this, then clean out the chute where powder goes. Replace the tray, turn the unit back on and run a cleaning with no tablet. When it asks for the tablet, open the top door, wait a second, close the door and continue. If you got all the gunk out, you should complete the cleaning cycle with no issues. But seriously, you have to use your fingers for the clean out. You can't see, and q-tips don't work..so you have to feel around. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Jura Capresso C3000 keeps saying clean unit

We have the S8 here at our office. Ran the cleaning cycle and "Clean Now" message was still on and beeping afterwards. Read the Feb 28 comment and carefully cleaned everything that had grounds stuck to it. Ran the cycle again and it worked. Thanks all.

Capresso s8 weak coffee

You should probably run a cleaning cycle with a cleaning tablet (the one you drop into the ground coffee shoot, not a decalcifying tab).
This will clean out all the insides where coffee particles and oil can accumulate.
The machine will ask you to run a cleaning cycle after a certain number of cups brewed. But you can also manually start it.

(this is copied from the manual)

You can run a tablet cleaning cycle at anytime even if
the machine does not prompt you,
• READY. Push and hold the Rinse button until display shows
RINSE. The Dial illuminates.
• Turn the Dial until display shows CLEANING. Push the Dial.
Display shows EMPTY DRAWER.
(Follow the rest of instructions for regular cleaning cycle)

Malfunction code 8 on Jura Impressa s8

To fix this problem you need to clean the layers and layers of coffee mud off the plates that dispense the spent grounds into the hopper. My suggestion is to do this major muck cleaning before you even put the cleaning tablet in.
Get a flashlight and pull the trays out and have a look at the mechanism that dumps into the hopper. You will see the layers of gunk that need to be scraped off. Easiest thing to get in there is a finger to start, then place it next to your sink and clean it with a water jet from your kitchen faucet, provided your faucet will allow you to do that. Let the runoff go into the sink of course. After you get it cleaned up, then put the machine through the cleaning cycle.
If you can't get the problem solved, the fix is a flat $200 from Capresso.
Call the number above to get set up with a service shipment, done in PA.
