USR 5461 can't be configured

I was upgrading the firmware and closed the browser before it finished. Now the router looks like it is working (the LED's are on) but I am unable to access the configuration utility either wireless or direct cable link. I held the reset button in for 10 seconds but that did not help. Is there a way to completely reset the router or complete the upgrade without the configuration utility?

Verify 1st if you can still communicate with the router, if your running WIndows go to the command prompt and type ipconfig, check your default gateway address(192.168.x.x) then type ping(space)192.168.x.x if your getting replies your still lucky that means the firmware was just incomplete and to complete this without accessing the configuration utility, you need a tftp server installed on yuor computer to load the firmware of the router, check if your router manufacturer has a recommended tftp server, if not download any tftp server software from 3rd party manufacturer such as linksys or netgear, dlink. When you open the tftp software it will normally prompt you to enter the following information - ip address of the device you want to upgrade, password and the ocation of the file you need to load on the device(in this case the firmware(.bin) that you downloaded).

Just reset it! At the back of the router is a small hole.With a toothpick or some like press gently for 30 seconds and wait for the router to start up again.Log in to http://192.xxx.xxx and start a new configuration.

I forgot my custom ip address of us robotics so now how i can connect to it
The default address for that make and model is: http://192.168.2.1
If you changed the default address, you can perform a factory restore to reset the router.
To restore the factory default settings is to press in and hold the RESET button on the Wireless MAXg Router for between five and ten seconds.
You will lose all of your personal settings if you restore the factory default settings.

How do i hook cables to download new firmware into my dgl-4500 from computer to router
  1. I assume you downloaded the newest firmware (version 1.21NA) from this site.
  2. Save or move it on your desktop so it's easier to find.
  3. Connect your router to your computer with an Ethernet cable.(If you're not sure what it looks like, see here.)
Do not upgrade the firmware over a wireless connection!

On the same page, look at the FAQ's. there is an entry called "How do I upgrade the firmware on my DGL-4100/DGL-4300/DGL-4500?" It is a description of the upgrade process itself and will walk you through the steps.

I'm just amazed that they miss a really important warning. Do not unplug your router or close the browser on your computer until this process is finished. This can render your router useless and you will have a nice, expensive doorstop.
When the upgrade process starts, go have a coffee, do your dishes, whatever, but: Leave the router and your computer alone! Wait until the router's reboot is completely finished.

How do I set up a web key on my router usr 5461 wireless g max
You're going to want to navigate to the router's configuration page. The easiest way to find this, if you are running Windows, is to click the Start button, click "Run", and type in "cmd".

You'll see a black window. Once in there, type in "ipconfig". Look at the bottom line, it should read "Default Gateway". Write this down, and then open up your Internet Browser.

Type in the number sequence - it should take you to your router's configuration page, and from there you should be able to set up a WEP key for your network. It should be under "security" or a similar heading.

Two routers US robotics connected together
It appears you may have confused the world because of your IP addressing choices. Do you know what a subnet mask is? It determines which machines share the same network with other machines. Routers by design are the connection between different subnets, Most routers default to 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask which means both of your routers are in the same subnet as they are 192.168.2.? meaning you have two separate networks sharing the same same subnet address when they should be unique. Try making the wireless router 192.168.3.3 or 192.168.3.1. This puts devices in your wireless network on the 192.168.3 subnet and the devices in the ADSL subnet in the 192.168.2 subnet which includes the WAN half of the wireless router. I believe this will correct your network issues. In this case if hardcoded the gateway for the wireless router would be 192.168.2.1 also known as the the adsl modem

Upgrade firmware
Step 1 Download the latest firmware. Step 2 Once you´ve downloaded the firmware, open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape and enter the IP address of your router (192.168.0.1). Step 3 Enter your username (admin) and your password (leave the field blank). Click OK to enter the web configuration for the device. Step 4 Click on the Tools tab and then the Firmware button on the left side. Click on the Browse button and browse to the .bin (or .dlf) file you downloaded in Step 1. Highlight the file by clicking on it once and click Open. Step 5 Click Apply. It may take a up to 30 seconds for the upgrade to complete. Click on the Continue button. The firmware is now upgraded. Step 6 If you get a Page cannot be displayed or similar error after clicking Continue, close your browser and re-open it. Enter 192.168.0.1 and press Enter. You should now be prompted for your username (admin) and your password (leave blank).
