Hi, My Lenovo T400 with Windows 7 Home Premium does not go beyond the first Startup screen when powered On. How much ever we wait "ThinkPad" and the Lenovo Logo will not go away from the screen neither does the laptop go into Sleep mode. Even if we power off the system and then On it after sometime it still is the same. We did discharge the battery completely and then plugged in the AC adapter and power on the system but to no progess. We also removed the Battery, the CMOS battery and the AC adapter for over 30 Sec then replaced all to see if this works but No progess again. Can anyone help Us sort this issue. Thank You. Regards, AJ

Hi AJ,
This is not a hardware related issue. I most probably is related to the operating system. Once the computer is loading up the kernel files and advanced drivers and applications on your computer, it freezes up. To further isolate this, you need to boot the computer to safe mode.
Booting to Safe Mode:
1. Turn the computer on. Start tapping on F8 as the computer is loading up. 2. You should be able to see a black screen with options on it. It is the Advanced Boot Options. 3. Choose Safe mode or safe mode with networking.
In Safe mode, open the system configuration utility.
1. Press the Windows key + R 2. Type msconfig then click on ok 3. Click on the startup tab 4. Click on the disable all located on the bottom 5. Click apply and then ok 6. Restart your computer to normal mode.
If this works you are not done yet. You need to open the system configuration utility and check on the items under the start up tab one by one. You need to find our what program there is causing the computer not to load up. Once identified, You need to uninstall it from your system and your problem is resolved.

My lenovo tablet 7 is stuck on the powering down screen. I can type in my passcode but it will stay on the power down screen.

It might be installing an update. If you disconnected something while it was powering down - Internet, screen or something like that, it might have frozen.
Make sure you have power cable plugged in and the same with the internet (if you normally have one). If it stays the same way for more than 30 min. then you can hold down the power button until the pc turns off (5 seconds). Then wait 30 seconds, then turn it on again.

Lenovo t440 crashes on startup

Hi,
Turn on laptop then start tapping the F8 key continuously until you are given an option to start in SAFE MODE.
When you get to SAFE MODE you should be given an option to use SYSTEM RESTORE. From there restore your system back to a date when all was well with it.
Hope this helps

Hi, My Lenovo T400 with Windows 7 Home Premium does not go beyond the first Startup screen when powered On. How much ever we wait "ThinkPad" and the Lenovo Logo will not go away from the screen...

Hello. It appears that you have a problem with your motherboard or the BIOS on your motherboard. When you get the Lenovo logo, there should be a few F# options. Find the one that says "Enter Setup" or something along those lines. You want to try and access the BIOS and see if your motherboard is still working, or if it needs to be replaced. If that does not work, turn off your computer, and unscrew the cover over the RAM. Take out the RAM and reseat it. If that does not fix your problem, I think your motherboard is fried.

When i start Lenovo thinkpad T400, i get to see a lock symbol with blank screen

Hi sundar1968,

I see that your Thinkpad T400 machine is locked and you are unable to make use of the machine.

to be able to unlock the machine power the system on once turned ON you will see a Lock icon on the center of the screen just press and hold down the FN key for at least 5-7 seconds or if possible untill the lock icons shows that it is unlocked.

This should help you with your concern.

Have a nice day,
