Broken TV Hello, I am hoping you can guide me a bit on how I should go about getting my TV fixed...It's a 32" RCA Tube tv about 6 years old. The problem is with the "input" it started when we would watch a DVD we would select input to get it to video it would be going fine then all of a sudden it would flash back to TV view then go back and forth "TV"/"Video" repeatedly, now it does it when we are just watching TV it's like someone keeps hitting the input button? Please help, not sure if it's worth taking to a repair shop or if maybe I could fix myself? Thank you! Maranda

MY TV PICTURE HAS GONE A LITTLE DARKER AND ADJUSTING BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOR,ETC. DOES NOT HELP

How long u have this RCA analoge tv?Around 10 years or more and used it like about 5 or 6 hrs everydays?Yes,than ur tv it is losing CRT tube radiation cohetion. As times go bye years in years out the tv CRT-(tv tube) radiation will slowly dying out,Tv actual pictures will lost some of it luster and it brightnesses to the tv auctual pictures.Brightnesses of CRT tube will get darker and darker until the tv actual pictures barely it is watchable anymore.Contrast,Brightness and Colors adjusting more will help some. But u have to take this tv aparts and take a Flat scerw driver turn up a little bit more of the tv HV-(high voltage) SCREEN button on the FBT-(flyback transformer) to make any big differences of the CRT tube brightnesses. The FBT-(flyback tranformer) is the big block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap hook up to the tv CRT-(tv tube). This adjustment on of the FBT,HV-SCREEN button will help the tv CRT-(tv tube) last another year or two.

Tv shut off while watching

We have the same trouble! It is the power transformer. These models had faulty ones. Can you believe that this is the 2nd time we have had this problem? And our Beautiful RCA XBOX Entertainment Series TV's that is only 6 years old and there cousins all have these problems!!!! Our repairman (and good friend) told us that it would cost about $250 to fix. Of course he didn't recommend us doing this because the TV TUBES in these series are also very weak. He says that these Large Screen RCA TV's do not make it much past 5 to 7 years. So if you spend the money to have it fixed you will most likely be wasting your time and your money! Sure it will work for another year, but that is about all!
It is far better do what we are doing and go out and buy a new TV. Our Repairman Friend spend a lot of time researching new Flat Screen TV's for good quality and longevity. He states that we all should look at buying a good solid brand like Panasonic if you are going with a 32 inch TV or smaller. A Sharp if you are going larger then 32 inch. Far Better Quality on these TV's and a lot longer life! He states that the other cheap ones that we see out there today already are having a lot of problems! You get what you pay for!
These cheaper so-called bargains will have lots more problems in the months ahead and most will more then likely stop working all together in 2 to 4 years. So buyers beware of these great TV prices on these cheaper models! PLEASE do your homework and please listen to us and our repairman and you will not end up screwed like we were! Now we are stuck with an old RCA clunker which warranty expired after the first fix which was not done correctly! They came out and put a little solder and adjusted the Transformer instead of replacing. It was just enough to last another 6 months for the warranty to expire! Shame on you RCA! We then went out and bought one of these cheaper models and found that the quality is terrible! It already has problems and we are fighting to get them to honor the Warranty! Did I mention buyer beware? Something that looks and sounds too good to be true usually always is! Sorry for the long response! I just hope thise helps others!

10-year-old 32" RCA PIP TV just blinked off one morning after about 30 minutes. It makes a continuous high pitch sound, and the on/off switch is completely unresponsive. I assume this is a picture tube and...

It's not the picture tube(especially if image was good b4 it went dead). The high pitch noise is the power supply whinning because it's shorted or overloaded. I just fixed one of these sets - replaced the horiz. o/p transistor and flyback estimate around $120.00-$160.00

RCA TV, model number 32V550T. No picture but sound is fine.

hiya

this sometimes is quite simple to fix as it cud be a dry joint on the circuit board where the tube motor sits.

or it cud be the tube is on its way out, which wud be cheaper to buy a new tv rather than have it fixed

My rca 52 inch hdtv turns itself off after a few minutes

Sounds like the green tube shorting intermittantly. Have a qualified tech use a tube restorer to check for shorts, or the loss of the 300v line to the green tube.
