Door Lock Light - flashing

hi something similar has started happening to our washer, after the initial wash starts the machine doesn't do anything for a while then the red door light flashes on and off very quickly as does the 1st and 3rd green wash cycle light?

We have an awm8121 and there seems to be a fault on the Spin cycle indicators with th 0 RPM and the 800 RPM flashing..

We can't seem to get the frontloader to finish the drain cycle and continue into the next was.

The last load of washing was still saturated when we managed to open the door.

I think probably the problem was caused an out of balance load.
which would cause the problem you have experienced.
The door catch can be replaced, but it means taking the door apart to replace it, and you may possibly have to replace the door lock as well.
I think it is worth repairing, but you may possibly have to get an enginner to do it for you.

Look this is a long shot, but i once repaired a frontloader for a customer who was having this problem.the door lock light was showing up but it was actually the motor brushes in the motor,they where worn out & because they wern't making electrical contact the door lock light was staying on,this is stupid but the doorlock ran through the same circuit as the motor.so as a result the machine had no choice but to put up the door unlocked light.the door light must go out when the interlock closes that circuit but the motor was in that same circuit & when the motor open circuited due to the brushes the door light recognised this as an open circuit & lit up.it took me a while to work it out.Perhaps this is the same in your machine.I hope this helps you,ide be interested to know.

From the symptons you describe, it could be a broken or weak spring in the door handle, which ca be fixed relatively inxpensively, that is where i would start, you can purchase one directly from hotpoint, or possibly a local repairer. if that does not cure the problem, then the odds are it will be a faulty programme module.

could be a faulty belt. May need replacing. Or in the worse case scenario the bearings may need replacing.

make sure door seal is fitted correctly to the cabinet. you may find that all that is required is to push the door harder than usual till the seal beds in

check that the outflow pipe is not blocked. Turn off power supply get a bucket ready, disconnect the outflow pipe from the u-bend under the sink and check that it is not blocked.

assuming that you didfi not unwire ther door lock, the problem is probably just that the door seal just needs bedding in and you should be able to start by closing more firmly and pushing in till the door lock catches. did you properly seat the door boot on the cabinet?
