I got the "Ink system failure" message today after replacing my
yellow ink. Printer screen said turn power off and back on.
I have done this several times without success.
I was warned yesterday to replace yellow but I waited until I received
2nd message, today.
I purchased the printer in Dec 2006.
I get the ink system failure message on my hp c7180 as well as an error code of oxc18a0306.

I had the same problem after replacing my magenta, i did leave it a while before i replaced it. Turned the printer off as instructed several times but still unable to print.

I just had the exact same problem after replacing the yellow cartridge. I've never had a problem before with any other color cartridges upon replacement. I spent two hours on the phone with someone from India in support and we got absolutely nowhere. She suggested I purchase an upgraded one. I've only had this for two years. Did anyone get a suggestion for a fix on this problem????
Same problem with my yellow 02 inkjet.
I did not replace it right away,did not have that replacement at home. HP suggested cleaning sensor with q-tip and distilled water, that did nothing. Tried cleaning the contactors with tip of small screwdriver to no avail. Have 2 year warrantee, I think it's up, can't find sales slip anyway. I have a spare printer and scanner, I'll have to go without the fax, had enough of this.
