After replace new hdd, u need to performs following:

Update of HDD program data and UI data.

1) Create partitions. (In case of using the download jig, this is not necessary.)
While pressing [3] and [CLEAR] button, turn the power ON.
When "Firmware Version Up Mode" appears on the LCD, key in [3] and press the [START]
button.

2) Format the HDD. (Setting Mode (08-690: 2))

3) Update with the download jig or USB storage.

4) Format the HDD. (Setting Mode (08-690: 2))
* When the FAX unit (GD-1150) is installed.
Start up with the FAX Clearing Mode (1*)
Perform the 1*-100 (FAX Set Up), 1*-102 (Clearing the image data) of the FAX Clearing Mode.

Press mode again so that the seconds are flashing
Press ADJ + ST/STP at the same time
Adjust what you need to adjust and move between minutes and seconds by repeating the ADJ + ST/STP

Wow, serial communications still in use. Naturally, both units have to use the exact same protocol N81 for instance, so make certain the sending unit is set to the same, then check the cable to verify that the appropriate pins are connected and or crossed. I believe your symptoms can be caused by using hardware handshake and having pins 6,8,20 (20 only if a 25pin connector) shorted on the printer end. If possible, you can try switching both devices to software handshake.

Cause: The printer was not powered off when the new toner cartridge was installed, Therefore the counter did not cleared. Resolution: 1. Enter the PCU Diagnostic Mode, By turning off the printer and holding down the MENU and OK buttons on power up. (Release the buttons once you're in the PCU DIAG MODE) 2. Press the MENU button 14 times until the operator panel reads " Counter Display " 3. Press the MENU button and the BACK/C button at the same time, This will put the printer into the Feed Counter Clear Mode (Release the buttons once you're in the Feed Counter Clear Mode) 4. Press the up arrow 5 times until the operator reads " Toner Counter Clear " 5. Press the OK button, The operator panel will now display " Toner no " 6. Press the up arrow once and the operator panel will display " Toner yes". Now press the OK button and the green data light will flash to indicate that the clear process is complete 7.
