SOURCE: can't change the toilet seat that broke
Kohler Rialto Toilet seat replacement.
Use dremel to cut off old bolt and allow it to fall into the black abyss that is the genius of Kohler engineering. Enlarge the hole to 3/8. I worked up to that size slowly increasing bit size so as not to crack porcelin. At Home Depot I bought a 1/4 x 20 x20mm "Insert Nut" and a good 2 part epoxy meant for metal and ceramic. Gently tap the Insert nut about 1/2 way into the hole and apply epoxy all the way around. Continue tapping the insert nut until it is flush. Clean off excess epoxy and allow to set. Now attach any standard round toilet seat using the standard 1/4 nut that comes with it. I used a Kohler "Cachet" round toilet seat to replace the Kohler "French Curve" that comes standard with the Rialto. All in all it should take you about 1/2 hour.
Happy Fixing!

Give Kohler a call AFTER you read the instructions thoroughly. Good Luck, seriously.
SOURCE: How do I replace the toilet seat on a Kohler
I repaied one of these laast week and it had the Plastic nuts in between the webbing on the seat where the lid connects I believe You remove the plastic cap with a knife and use a flat tip screw driver to remove the screws and replace the seat.
SOURCE: kohler lowboy toilet seat does not have bolts underneath
My wife wanted to replace our Kohler low boy with a self closing seat. We got a Westport whisper close with unlock-able hinges for easy cleaning. I followed the above advice to use brute force to yank out the Kohler bolts. I then used a hacksaw to cut the new plastic seat bolts so that they would not extend past the thickness of the porcelain. I drilled the plastic bolts thru so that a small drywall toggle bolt would fit thru. Use a washer to prevent it from pulling thru, screw on the toggle and cut off excess screw length so it does not bottom out inside the cavity. Insert the assembly in the hole and tighten. Snap on & lock the Westport seat and you are good to go!
