Are you using the Sony Webcam companion? If not ou can download the application from Sony Vaio website. ( Sony Web Cam Companion ). If you are trying to use skype or any other video messaging software: Try to check if there are other video chat application running in the background of your computer. Open the system configuration utility (Windows key + R > msconfig ) then go to the Startup Tab. Uncheck all application that is related to video chat and leave the preferred video chat software active (checked). Restart the computer and viola! You can now use your webcam for video chat.
Use the Arcsoft Webcam Companion Software to use the camera to capture videos and pics. Click on start and type Webcam Companion in the search bar and press the enter key.
This will open the webcam companion software, then click on the capture option to use the camera. If you want to use the camera with any messaging software such as Skype, Yahoo Messenger etc, it is required to close the Webcam Companion Software or any other web messenger software. The camera can be used with a single application at one time.
