Cuisinart DGB900BCU Grind and Brew 12Cup Coffee Maker Logo

The basket that contains the coffee filter has a lid teeth around the outer edge fo the lid. It meshes with a gear on the coffe maker. In both the grind and grind off mode, the lid will just jeep rotating. It makes a popping soundas the lid rotates and the chute cover on the bottom of the grid hopper opens and closes.

  • Anonymous Jul 03, 2011

Yes I have cleaned the hopper. I even made a little tube to vaccuum it out with. The basket lid pushes back the hopper chute slide( the little thingy that opens the channel to let grounds fall in the basket.), but it will not stay open and pops back in place. The basket lid just keeps going around and around and it never goes into the brew cycle

I do not have the manual, but i have cleaned it and assembled it for over a year and it worked just fine.. I have checked the channel cover and assembled the bean hopper over and over and it still just keeps rotating. Thought maybe there was some known issue or trick it...guess not.

Have you had the bean hopper removed recently for cleaning?

Is the channel cover closed and the bean hopper locked in place correctly?

  • Anonymous Jul 03, 2011

Do you have a copy of the manual to view how it should look? Try removeing the bean hopper and make sure the channel cover is in the correct place and there are no obstructions. Then replace the bean hopper and ensure its locked in place with the knob.

Need a manual for JWX27

You can find the manual for this coffeemaker directly at the following link (for as long as it lasts): http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aamb_prd/on/demandware.static/Sites-mr-coffee-Site/Sites-mr-coffee-Library/default/v1414150683537/documents/instruction-manuals/JWX27_43_56431310.PDF

With this coffeemaker, you can brew with the cover open. I recommend observing a brew cycle to see if the coffee with floating grounds are overflowing the filter into the strainer basket. If this is the case, inspect the strainer basket's valve to make sure it is not blocked and working properly. Also make sure the pot is fully in place so that the lid aligns properly with the strainer basket to open the valve adequately. Otherwise, the filter and/or the coffee grounds are too fine. I recommend a permanent filter basket (around $5) and course-ground coffee. Both will add to better tasting coffee.

Will not process the water to make coffee

the coffe maker might be clogged up so here' what to do: Look through the clear plastic panel on the side of the coffee maker's water tank to make sure that it has water in it.
  • Clean your Sunbeam coffee maker, You can wash the removable filter basket and carafe in hot, soapy water and pour 4 cups of white vinegar into the water reservoir of your coffee maker. Start the brewing cycle with no coffee grounds to allow the vinegar to clean the inside of the coffee maker. Rinse away the vinegar by running the brewing cycle twice with only clean, fresh water.
  • 8 Check the removable filter basket to see if the filter has collapsed if you find coffee grounds in your brewed coffee. If the paper filters collapse often you can wet them before you place them inside the filter basket so that they will stick to the basket and stay in place. or check this link because it might need a new hose. I have a grind and brew and can't get the grinding basket out to wash.

Open the reservoir lid. Remove the grinder basket lid by using the recessed area on each side of the lid. Then remove Grinder Basket. Open Filter Basket Door. Remove Filter Basket Cover, Filter Basket and Filter Basket holder. The grinder basket, grinder basket lid, filter basket and filter basket cover can be washed in warm soapy water and rinsed thoroughly, or cleaned in the upper rack of the dishwasher. Dry all parts after every use.

As coffee brews it spills out everywhere. At first if I made minor adjustments to where the pot positioned under the filter it would help, but it seems to be getting worse. I can't make a pot of coffee...

The two most common reasons for overflow or underflow have to do with the carafe lid and the filter basket - they key to smooth flow with this coffee maker is making sure the filter basket and carafe lid are making the proper contact with each other so that the center knob on the carafe lid pushes slightly up on the filter basket spring. Make sure the carafe lid is completely closed. Make sure the filter basket is pushed all the way down. Make sure you are not using the gold tone filter and a paper filter at the same time. For some reason, I get better results when the handle of the carafe is resting against the right side wall. If everything is in place, I would suspect a problem with either the filter basket being clogged or some problem with the carafe lid - call Cuisinart as they should be able to order these parts for you.

My coffee maker, Cuisinart dcc 1400 only boils water, does not make coffee. It is one week old. I have a water filter in the plastic filter holder filled with coffee.

    Making Coffee

Ok lift the lid and inside you will see a brew basket (it will have a hole in the bottem middle of it) If this unit has a mesh type filter basket you will not need paper filters! you put the coffee in the mesh basket the replace before brewing! if you do not have a mesh basket you will need a paper filter to put down in the coffee holder!(the one with the hole in the bottom!) add coffee and waeter and brew!
I hope this fixes ya up!

COFFEE GROUNDS COME THROUGH THE HOLES IN COFFEE BASKET. WHAT TYPE COFFE SHOULD I USE TO ELIMINATE THIS? IS THEIR A FILTER MADE FOR TJHIS URN

Your coffee is too finely ground for your basket. 2 solutions: buy "regular" ground coffee from now on, OR use filters inside the basket. Many 30 cup or 45 cup maker's baskets are sized so that a normal filter, flattened-out, and a small hole torn in the middle will fit into basket and prevent the grounds from passing through.

Hamilton beach coffee maker Model 49464

Leave the carafe off the hot plate and place the basket in holder with the lip under hinged flange so it sits flat. Then replace the carafe and the basket should not move up when the Pause and Serve button opens. I just bought this pot too and
love it but except for the basket placement problem.
