On the television remote you have to select the Source or Input. Each press will take you through the HDMI ports and all other signal inputs like co-ax. Your LA channel is likely via the co-ax indoor aerial.

Auto tune would be for the old analogue TV system I believe. Does the aerial connect through a box or direct to the TV? The Sky box should connect through scart (very old) or HDMI which you just need to choose the right input for. Look for a button on your remote for input or an icon that looks like a screen with an arrow pointing into the middle.
The X1 box acts like a set-top cable box. The HDMI output can be connected to any HDMI connector. There are three HDMI connections on the rear of the set. You have the Blu-Ray connected to one of them, Input 6. You should have no issues with connecting the X1 to either Input 7 or Input 8. There is no specific "TV" HDMI connection. You simply use the remote to select the HDMI port that the X1 is connected to.
You have to tell the TV which HDMI input to use. ie you should be able to press a button on your remote to do this. On my tv we can choose between 4 different HDMI inputs via the remote.
If there is a menu button on the TV then you can, but if it isnt working on your remote then there must be a problem with the remote. You can look at the manual that came with the TV for more information on that and if you dont have one heres a link to one: http://www.scribd.com/doc/34310286/Sharp-LC-32AD5E-BK
if you have connected your sky box as per instructions, putting the aerial coax to it and a fly lead(as in a male to female coax as used on a vcr to tv) from the output to the tv's aerial input, then disconnect the aerial from the sky box and put it back to the tv. The skybox will weaken and even loose the signal.
First thing- why not just use the HDMI instead of standard def cables in the first place?
Anyway-
If the RCA-video (yellow composite cable) is not producing color, 1 of 2 things may be wrong:
1. You accidentally connected the a/v cables [yellow white and red] to [red green and blue] component inputs or vice versa, or..
2. Your TV or DVD player is somehow set to the wrong video format. Check the DVD settings for video output format and video connector type. Format should be NTSC, and connector should be composite and/or s-video for the cables you're using.
If this is only happening when connecting the DVD player through the VCR, then check to make sure the same cables connecting the DVD player to the the VCR are also connected to the TV from the VCR.
BTW- if this is just to record DVDs to a VCR, I'll tell you it's not worth it. If your DVD player has an HDMI port, your picture quality will be so much better than if you're watching a VCR copy of one. Your new HDTV will look worse than an old standard def TV. Worse; I'm not kidding.
I hope some of this helps.
