Hello, I am user of Jobo giga one ultra, with 60GB disk. Very nice and usable, cost benefit device, but I have a problem. I have used the device in South america, copied a lot of CF cards, two of them at high altitude (4000 m) and low temperatures (aroun -10 to -15 C). All others were copied at lower sea levels and "normal" temperatures. I was able to transfer all files (ie. directories) to PC, but two of them cannot be downloaded; device siply "freezes" with a click, when I start copying. I tried with single files, but except for the few, I did not do much. I can still use it, it seems to avoid the damaged files, but they reman there. All undownloadable files are displayed in directory tree, I even saw all thumbnails in Picassa (not other photo browsers), but download seems impossible. Data recovery software does not work either. Thanks for any possible solution, I would still like to keep Giga one, if can be done.

Why don't you try to format your external drive. There's a variety of options where you can format it. The first one is Go to the My Computer then Right Click on the Icon of your External Drive then Select Format, it is better to select full erase of the the drive.

SOURCE: Fromating Giga one

you need to go to the jobo site, find the driver/software/service link, in that you will find the giga one formatting tool, download and use that. i had the same problem when i purchased my original giga one, i used windows to format the drive - but as people find out windows is unable to format the drive correctly ie fat 32, and you then get an error message. in the formatting tool it tells you why what the different error codes are and error 1 means drive not formatted to fat 32, im not sure how old your giga one is but when i purchased mine approx 4yrs ago it never came with a proper manual and there was no support on the jobo site at the time. I think a lot of these minor problems could be avoided if it came with a manual and explained whats needed to clear the internal hard drive

You can format your giga one hard drive in MS-Dos mode.
1. Go to Start--> Run
2. type CMD to enter the DOS
3. select the giga one drive path (i.e. if it shows as E drive then simply write E: in DOS and hit enter.
4. type format
thats all that you have to do to format the giga one drive.
