I have a side by side Amana refrigerator that is 5 years old. The refrigerator side (not the freezer) temperature runs between 10-28 degrees freezing all the contents. The freezer seems ok except the water dispenser doesn't work when the temp in the fridge is 10 degrees. Repairman cannot come for 10 days since it's a holiday weekend.

I suggest get help with repairman.6 year old is not very old.Refrigerators have life more then 8 to 10 years.The problem can be temperature not set properly or any of fridge or freezer door not closed properly and cool air is getting leaked out. These are basic possibilities which first need to be checked. But if these possibilities are checked ok and still the problem is same, then its weak compressor issue. Wide variation in temperature in refrigerator section (40 degrees in top, 20 degrees in bottom, also, freezer set at WARMEST setting is ten degrees below zero.

Amana refrigerators older than 5 years have both a cold control and freezer control. this may be your problem. But check both the gaskets on the doors and check for heavy dirt on condser coil. Both can cause wild temp problems. Hope this helps

Could be a number of things, low Freon, defective defrost timer. Suggest have a tech check it.
If it is 10 or more years old suggest replace it with a new one rather than invest funds in it.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost heater, defrost thermostat. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control board.

you may try hard restart by shuting the fridge off and unplugging it from the wall . plug in back in and after 5 min turn it back on . close both doors and wait one hour . check the temp. if the unit still will not respond calll the local woranty amana repairman only. hope this helps you
