The sheets fed thru the ADF are traveling in front of a thin piece of glass (having the length a little bit bigger than the sheet's width). Try to lift the scanner's lid, locate that piece of glass and try to clean it.

Laserjet pro black vertical lines using adf

Do regular prints look ok? If so, then try copying something from the flatbed glass. If that copy has no line then you have something on the glass where the paper passes over when fed through the adf, clean the glass well, you may need to use some rubbing alcohol because often fine bits of adhesive from things like sticky notes will cause the lines but are not obvious to the eye when you inspect the glass.

Officejet pro 8500a plus adf broken

I work for an authorized HP dealer and I just checked HP parts and they do not appear to have any parts for the ADF on this model. You could check Ebay for a used unit or one being sold as is that has a working ADF.

My officejet pro 8500A prints black vertical lines down the page when I make a copy. I have cleaned and aligned the printheads. What else can I do?

Happened with me too. Turned out to be a small sticky smudge on the ADF glass. That is the smaller glass scan area to the left of the large glass scanning area.
When using the ADF to scan or copy, make sure the smaller glass area is clean along with the rollers.

HP OfficeJet 8500 ADF detects load, but does not detect feed. I have a brand new HP OfficeJet 8500. The ADF detects a document is loaded when I stick a piece of paper in it to be copied/scanned/faxed, but...

Remember that if you start to fiddle you void your guarantee, I know its a pain, but if I were you repack and either contact customer services and obtain a return invoice number if purchased over the internet and return to sellers. If purchased from a shop, return with your prove of purchase.

My HP Officejet 6310xi displays a vertical line when copies are fed through the ADF and when sending faxes through the ADF, the same problem occurs. What could be the cause?

Open the Top Feeder Cover
Clean the Roller with lint free cloth.
Lift the Roller a bit up and you will find a glass strip underneath the rollers
Clean the glass strip with cloth and close the feeder
Try scanning or copying. it should work

Ron
