I have a Motherboard MSI 865PE Neo3 MS-6728 ver3.0. You can install Win XP normally but is will never boot any Windows 7 CD installer with boot error "CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code:5". I used the same Windows 7 CD installer and the DVD drive to the other Motherboard but it can be installed normally the Windows 7. I already updated the Bios Version from 5.0 to 5.3 but still the same error. Any solution or advise on this? Is the motherboard is not compatible to Windows 7?

Be sure if you computer and the installer is the same as 32 or 64 bit.. check your computer and your installer.... be sure you have updated version of your motherboard..

The problem is the file format of the install DVD, older MSI BIOS's have trouble reading the disc unless it is created with a different boot image than what MS supplies.

SOURCE: i need driver usb 2.0 for my mother board MSI

Windows should find and install the latest themselves, try letting it do a driver search online to find the latest.

Otherwise get from the manufacturer. Try here:
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=600

The chipset drivers should do it.

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/865PE-Neo2-PLS--PFS--PFISR.html#/?div=Driver&os=XP%2032

Remember to select the windows system you are useing.

The drriver needs to be unziped before installation.

Try also to run windows update or microsoft update.

The usb driver is in one of the service packs.

Cannot install windows

Hi, check what amount of RAM you have. XP can be loaded at 28Mgb of RAM but is more succesful at 256Mgb which is the recomended minimum. The ideal amount of RAM for XP is 512Mgb and I believe you can never have too much RAM.
