8 gb usb memory stick

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could maybe help me with an 8 gb usb memory stick i have recently purchased off ebay. it was brand new and worked fine for around 3 weeks. Got it from china so cant be bothered with posting back for refund. now it wont format in windows xp pro service pack 2 and i was wondering if i should throw it away? or could the bad sectors be moved to the end and could it still be used? i have a program called paragon partition manager 9 but dont really know how to use it and cant see an option to format it which is what i need to do first to get laptop to recognise it. any help would be great thanks. cheers steve

    hi

on the lexar 2 GB memory usb stick i transfered all my pictures onto the stick and deleted them frommy C drive on my computer. But i found that when i tried to open the USB stick thinking that all of my pictures were on there, i found that it my pictures were not there. So i then had to restore all the pictures frrom my recycle bin back onto my computer for the pictures to show up on my usb stick. I also found that when i used the stick on another computer my pictures don't come up but the pictures that are on the other computer comes up. Is there a way of getting the memory stick to retain the data that i have transfered so that i can use it on another computer?

Because something motherboard settings are being notify if reliable to you to use different kind of RAM you have. Read the motherboard manual to find out some settings to enable both of them are not the same brand or model.

16 GB USB 2 MEMORY STICK I cannot format the pendrive. 2)when i double click on the removable disk,it says ''Please insert a disk into Drive E :'' 3)i used a pendrive format utility but the problem...

I'm a little confused as you mention both Drive E. which suggests Windows and gnome which suggest linux.

WARNING: Formatting the disk will erase any data on it. Do not format the disk if you are trying to get the data off it that was on it yesterday.

It is possible that the partition table has been corrupted.

If you are using windows. You can either try right clicking on the drive (not double clicking) from Windows Explorer (My Computer) and clicking format. Choose the file system type and go. Alternatively, you could work through the disk management administrative tool. Right Click on My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management. Right click on the volume and format it.

If you are using linux, see if you have a valid partition table using fdisk for the device. Then, after creating the partition, use mkdosfs to format the drive. If you have formatted the drive as a linux partition, such as ext2, ext3, or reiserfs, it is likely that Windows will not see it as a valid drive.

Toshiba sattelite

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

Installing 2 sticks of 1 gb ram = DRAM error beeps

If the computer is working with one gb stick and not the other, try this:

Swap the sticks with the one that does work. If it works then its the memory card slot on the motherboard. If it doesn't boot up, then it's the memory stick.

Problem with USB Flash

It is possible the memory stick is faulty. Are you using xp or vista? If so it should be recognised instantly. I bought one the same a couple of weeks ago, and it recognised it instantly, and I'm using xp.

Try it on another computer if possible, even where you purchased it. Just tell them you think it's faulty. If it works on that computer then you have a problem with either your usb ports or you have a virus.
