After googling the problem, I saw a couple of PDF documents that said that Motorola would replace or change the battery, but the links to the documents were outdated. At this site, they said the battery is non-replaceable:
http://direct.motorola.com/ens/s9/Headset_Home.asp.
I found this site for support, and it looks like it might be worth a try:

It looks to me like the battery can be replaced, at the service level, but that normally it is a throwaway item at the consumer level. See if they can help you, but, of course, get the price first, and that will tell you whether to have it fixed or replaced. Good luck, and hope this helps.
Where and how can we get ther battery replaced? My headphone will not go over 1 hour on a charge. They have been used very few times. Have done 5 deep cycles , but that does not help.
S9 will not hold charge longer than 40min...how to replace battery please
I'm having similar battery problems and would like to know how/where to replace them :( My S9 loses connectivity with my phone any farther than 2 feet away, also the charging light never turns green to indicate the battery is fully charged so I am suspecting the battery is to blame. Does anyone know how and where to purchase a replacement battery from?
Thanks!
Hi, Arfixya:
I'm an EE also, and would like to know how you opened the S9 and found the battery. I just got the S9 and don't know if I want to keep it if, as Moto website says, it's non-replaceable.
Have you had any luck in finding the part on the web?
same thing , just started a couple days ago .won't hold a charge and my light turns green almost immediately when i start to charge it . had it for 1 year and have hadf no problems till now. Help?

Add me to the list of battery problems I guess... not an EE but don't know why that is pertinent??? Does anyone know the specs on this blasted SP0630AD in the S9 - it looks protected and guess you can't trust the Vmeter???
what is the answer?
