I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble finding replacement water filters for your Cuisinart DCC-690 coffee maker.
After some research, it appears that the DCC-690 model does not have a specific water filter that is designed to fit it. However, Cuisinart does offer a universal water filter that can be used with any of their coffee makers.
The Cuisinart DCC-RWF replacement water filter is a universal filter that is compatible with all Cuisinart coffee makers that have a water filter. It is designed to remove impurities from tap water, such as chlorine, calcium, and other minerals, to improve the taste and quality of your coffee.
You should be able to find this filter on Cuisinart's website, or at a retailer that sells Cuisinart coffee makers and accessories. It is important to note that the filter should be replaced every 60 days, or after brewing 60 pots of coffee, whichever comes first.
I hope this helps!
Over time, Calcium will deposit on the tubes and containers which get in touch with water.
The calcium can also impact the function of the Heating elements in the percolator tube.
Try Decalcifying with Designated Products.
Usually, you do this by diluting the product, fill up the water reservoir, and cycle on the machine, without cofee of course,
Pour out the water. It will probably look troubled.
If the water does not start percolating, just let the water reservoir stand with the decalcification product for about 30 mins. don't leave it in overnight, because these products are slightly caustic to remove the Calcium, but it could damage parts if left in the machine overnight.
Repeat the process until the water starts running faster.
don't forget to rinse with regular water. 2 Cycles rinsing should suffice.
See manual for suggested products or just use 1/4 cup of Vinegar diluted with Water. .
I would repeat this process every month or so if you use your machine daily.
If this does not solve, try contacting cuisinart customer service at 1-800-726-0190
This problem is caused by a clogged water filter in the unit.
Unplug the coffee maker.
Open the top panel where you normally pour in the water and set the coffee filter.
Gently pull up on the tap that sticks up in the back left corner of the open top. This will free a long plastic part that has a compartment at the bottom that contains a filter filled with charcoal.
Unsnap the small compartment that holds the filter and clean it gently under running water with light brushing.
If there is a lot of coffee build-up, the water chamber where you normally pour in fresh water needs to be cleaned out. Pour in a cup of water and invert the unit over a large sink pouring out the water through the opening you normally use to fill the unit.
Repeat this until you remove the coffee grounds.
Let the unit dry fully before plugging in to run again.
Hi,
Yes, the coffee maker will still work... the charcoal filter is just there to help make the coffee taste better...with most waters it does not matter...high chlorine content water is where it makes the most difference..
THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO SHIP IT TO THEM AND TEN DOLLARS FOR GETTING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!! GET A MR COFFEE- I AM GOING TO SEND IT NEXT WEEK, BUT THIS IS BAD CUST SERVICE- HOWEVERA CAPS sorry- no coffee ye, your orig post helped me alot- thanks
Go ahead and replace the charcoal water filters on the Cuisinart- they are usually available at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Before you insert the new filters, run a pot of water only through the coffee maker with 2 tsps lemon juice per cup of water. Also, make sure you don't use the 1-4 cup setting - it actually double-heats the water. Hopefully, this should resolve the issue. Good luck!
Could be electrical, but I would unplug for 20 minutes or longer and then clean with vinegar/water soltuion (2 cups vinegar, 2 cups water).
