go into settings and turn on wi fi if it has wi fi. check aeroplane mode is off. Know WEP or WPA encryption key for Wi FI also if security being used on Wi Fi system.

Are you trying to connect via wi-fi or via bluetooth? Typical hotspots are wi-fi, and that can be as easy as turning on wi-fi (in Settings, Wi-fi - see manual or quick setup brochure) then waiting for it to find an active hotspot and plugging in any necessary password.
