Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
A more wider picture of the scenario will be highly appreciated.. If the unit is dropped in water, then there are maximum chances of the main board to be gone bad with the solvent particles... In cases, the unit works OK for a particular period of time, and then it starts crashing/ mal functioning... A permanent fix would be removing the battery from the unit, and then servicing the device, with CTC or any other solvent, available for cleaning electronic devices.

Concerned.

Fills with water, not agitating

They probably dropped it a good one and jarred the computer. The bump bump bump down the steps into the basement. Hmmm rain on electrical components , if they used it right away and didn't give it a chance to dry out, yeah that might cause shorting across the board. The mechanisms are electronic now and not mechanical like the good old days (My uncle worked for Kelvinator and had old pieces laying around). What about overloading it? Are they overloading it? They've lifted up the cover and peeked at it and saw that it's not agitating? Are they incompetent? So many variables.

When spinning at higher speeds, there was a sound that could only be the drum hitting or catching something. The drum has now dropped about an inch. I took it all apart yesterday & could see nothing...

It's hard to give much detail without a model number, but it sounds like you are working on a front load washer.
If the tub of a front load washer has dropped down and is rubbing on the outer tube as it spins around then I would suspect the rear drum bearings are bad.
You can remove the back access panel from your washer and see if there is a trail of grease and water residue running down from the center tub bearing.

I dropped my phone and it could not on now

Due to hazard some phones are not working. If you dropped in water try with this steps.
  • Use cotton swabs to soak up water in crevices and on any fragile, exposed circuits. If you have dropped your cell phone in water, it is also helpful to disassemble it if you can and let all the parts dry separately.
  • If the phone will turn on, you can try to make a call to be sure it is working properly. If you put your water damaged cell phone back together and it won't turn on, it is likely that some water has gotten down inside the phone.
If dropped in floor, please bring it to service center for repair.

Dropped Sony Camcorder in sea water

This isn't a solution specific to your problem, but maybe similar enough to help. I've dropped both my cell phone and iPod in the water. My friend told me to fill a bowl with uncooked rice and submerge the cell phone in the rice to draw out the water - took about 2 days and all was working fine - same with the iPod, but it took longer (about a week.) You might want to gently clean the battery connections with a Q-tip if you're seeing residue. Good luck!

Lens has been dropped in lake in 20 ft of fresh water for two weeks. 50mm F1.2 I think. Was about $700 I think. Is it worth having a diver find it and have it cleaned out? Approx price for cleaning?

Actually, it was smart to leave it in the water. It will slow down the rusting. Keep it in water until you get it to the repair shop. If it were me, I'd hire a diver or learn to SCUBA dive to recover an awesome lens like that. I would also recommend you CALL Canon, Nikon or whoever made the lens and tell them the situation and ask how they would like it shipped (in water or not...). I had a similar thing happen many years ago (with a 300mm F2.8 lens no less) and the tech from Nikon asked if I could ship it in water, which I did.

Depending on the lens and the extent of the damage, you should expect to pay from $200 to $400 for the repair. Beats paying $700+ for a new one though. Good luck with this.

Kenmore Elite Top Load does not spin on spin cycle

Hi, If the inner tub has dropped down, you will need to change the block that holds the tub to the shaft. Remove the agitator cap and then use a 7/16" socket to remove the bolt holding the agitator in.
Lift the agitator out and look at the block holding the inner tub. There should be two slots with two tabs sticking up inside them. You will probably see metal shaving as well.
If this is what you see, please let me know and I can direct you on further repair.

Thanks
Vic

Water drains during spin cycle, but tub does not spin and appears to have dropped down. Machine does aggitate.

If you can move the tub by hand laterally - the rear main bearing has likely failed - or the drum rollers are worn.
