Total alkalinity can be lowered by adding muriatic acid or sodium bisulfate. Acid may be added in doses of up to 1 quart per 10,000 gallons. Total alkalinity tests and further required additions of acid can be made every 2 hours.

I have a sand filter and my levels say ideal but water is real cloudy after adding chlorine

Take a sample to a pool shop and find out. If the pool has been green you may have dead algae floating around, a sand filter will never take that out. You need to flock it or new water. Then there is the toy you call a sand filter, OK when everything is perfect but small filters and pumps just won't handle a very dirty pool.

How to get air out of Pentair CCP320?

if you remember back i'll bet you had a little difficulty getting the old filter off the suport rod, but now the new one is on, but there now is a hairline crack in suport post , this is sucking in air making pump loose prime , have a reputable pool company cut you a new suport pipe , you may find it easier for them to install it too as they dont come out too easy

Pump is blowing cloudy water back into pool

Cloudy water is the bane of sand filters!. I suggest letting filter run day and night. Do not backwash until the pressure rises 8 - 10 pounds above clean starting pressure. Do not try to vacuum or stir up the sediment. when water clears, vacuum to waste. Keep the hose running while vacuuming. A dirty filter is a better filter (up to a point). At a higher pressure the filter will trap more of the fine particles that are clouding your water.

Hayward vari-flow valve sp714 cloudy water

Otherwise chemistry fine?
whenever someone is vague about chemistry residual readings, but provide a pH reading, I'm always Leary.
  • bring pH up to 7.6
  • Balance Total Alkalinity at 120 ppm
  • Bring Hardness to at least 200 ppm
  • Keep Chlorine level at least 3.0 All the time
  • ISO Cyaniric acid / stabilizer at least 30, not exceeding 80 ppm
  • Use a Natural Clarifier weekly - rate = 1 ozs per 5000 gallons
  • Use Algaecide (not from Kmart!) weekly
  • Clean filter whenever pressure approaches 8# over starting
  • Filter for at least 1 turnover per day. This is usually 8 hours in most regions
Follow this, should be good

Cloudy brown dirt getting in my pool from sand pump

The dirt you are getting is most likely from the air, dirt and dust present in rainwater and the small amounts present on human bodies. It is settling out and going to the bottom. I recomend a vacuum attachment that connects to your pump/filter to keep this cleaned out. Basically it "plugs In" to the outlet on the pool and will get all that out for you.

De filter pressure too high water is cloudy

backwash the filter from main drain until sight glass is clear-this will reduce filter pressure. After backwashing return gate valve to filter position, then filter from main drain only. check water chemistry. add a clarifier to water
