Paint Flow Problems

  • If the unit does not draw material when the PRIME/SPRAY knob is set to PRIME, check to see if the paint hopper is empty. If paint is in the hopper, ensure that the paint is not too thick for the unit to draw. Also, make sure the unit is on level ground to allow the paint to flow properly in the hopper. Examine the inlet filter to see if it is clogged and clean it, if necessary.
Sometimes the inlet or outlet valves may be stuck. If so, clean them. If this does not help, replace the valves. Check the PRIME/SPRAY valve to see if it is plugged and clear the valve, as needed.
Pressure Problems
  • If the sprayer is drawing material properly, but the pressure drops when the trigger on the spray gun is activated, first examine the spray tip for clogging or wear. Clean the tip or replace it, if worn out. Also, check the inlet and outlet valve assemblies for clogging or wear. Clean the assemblies or replace them, if necessary. The paint may also be too thick or coarse to spray properly and may need to be remixed to a thinner consistency. The filter in the spray gun may also need to be cleaned.

If you have tried everything I listed, It may be an issue that will require the manufacturer to repair or replace. with this being a well known and documented issue, the store where you purchased may replace it as well.

Hello ald... use a fine piece of wire and clean the opening that the paint comes out through. It has a tendency to fill in as you spray. Joe

My Wagner Flexio spits small amounts of paint very unevenly. I've cleaned after use. But the paint gets bogged in the nozzle and barely comes out.

filter the lumps out of the paint first ( an old stocking is best for that)
thin using the right thinner material
clean the seals around the spray needle

Remove and Install prime/spray valve Wagner paint crew airless paint sprayer?

Was the unit purchased new or used? The price of a new is about $125-170. This unit is for homeowner occasional use, not for large jobs. Was the unit working on the previous use? If so were the cleaning instructions followed and not shortcut. If paint is failed to be totally removed on cleanup it will dry inside unit. There are very few replacement parts for this unit. If the unit is not working take wrench and try to remove prime/spray valve. You will have to remove knob to access this part.

Sprayer was working fine and ran low on paint and lost prime. could not get it to re-prime. now its still got paint in it and i can't get it to do anything. i need to clean it ont.

I haven't much experience with airless sprayers but I have heard the bad language from those who use them.

I expect there is still paint in the business end of the mechanism and an air bubble stuck between that and the new paint fill.

I think the sprayhead will have to be removed or dismantled so the air will be able to escape and allow priming to take place. I suggest spending a little time with the instruction manual.

Does a Wagner Paint Crew sprayer take lubricant?

The Wagner Paint Crew airless sprayer does not require oil for its operation like full professional sprayers. The piston is off-set from the pump chamber with the inlet and outlet valves opposite each other, however you need to protect the parts from corrosion between use and Wagner recommend running some light oil through it after cleaning. If you will be using it in a day or so for water based paint, you could run a 10% solution of their EasyGlide through it.

Shoots drips

Most airless spray guns spit a bit when you pull or release the trigger because the paint between the spray tip and the paint valve is under pressure but not enough to atomise the paint. If you increase the pressure you may reduce the spit to a point when you don't notice it. A blocked filter could slow the paint getting through to the tip cause lower pressure.

Why does my gun keep spitting

Spitting is usually caused by not filtering the paint through a strainer (made for the purpose by the paint manufacturer). The paint debris blocks the paint for just a moment, then spits it out. Easy fix!

Wagner Paint crew - No pressure

In order of likelyhood:

1. There is an inlet valve where the paint first enters from the hopper. With the machine off, you can poke your finger all the way down the hole. It's spring loaded and will depress abouta quarter inch. If the inlet valve is stuck no paint will pump in PRIME or SPRAY position.
2. In SPRAY position. Motor runs for a few seconds then turns off. This means the pump is working. When you pull the trigger, if you get poor pressure, the problem is in the gun. Unscrew the handle and remove the filter. Clean out everything you can, and replace filter if necessary. Also try turning the spray nozzle 180 degrees and spray to clear if necessary.

there are more things that can go wrong, but these are the most likely.
